London School of Film, Media and Performance Website Goes
Live
As technological developments continue to integrate
entertainment and the media ever-more seamlessly into our lives,
the demand for high-quality content has never been
greater.
Television viewers now have hundreds of digital channels at
their fingertips, and the latest Hollywood blockbuster can be
enjoyed on an iPhone during the morning commute. Shows such as the
X-Factor and Strictly Come Dancing have also brought the public’s
attention back to the stage, with live performances, theatre and
musicals enjoying huge popularity.
An Expanding Industry
Because of this, the creative industries are growing at an
exponential rate, with new talent in constant demand to create
quality, engaging content for viewers to experience across both
traditional and newly developing platforms.
In light of this, Regent’s College is pleased to announce that
its newest constituent school, The London School of Film, Media
and Performance (LSFMP) will be welcoming its first cohort of
prospective actors, producers, film and screenwriters and
performers in January 2010.
Creative Industry Degrees
Led by Head of School, David Hanson, whose work within the
creative industries has won BAFTA, Ace and Golden Rose of Montreux
awards, LSFMP will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in
subjects including screenwriting, theatre writing, film and
television production, acting and producing.
Regent's College Principal and Chief Executive, Aldwyn Cooper,
said of the new school: “I am delighted that Regent’s College
can now offer students undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in
such an exciting, dynamic sector. Led by David Hanson, we have a
great teaching staff with a wealth of experience in the creative
industries, and the new school is a very welcome addition to the
Humanities and Social Sciences faculty. LSFMP graduates will soon
be helping to shape the landscape of film, performance and the
media.”
While an official launch event for the LSFMP will be held in the
near future, the school’s website has gone live today, providing
information on the undergraduate and postgraduate courses on offer,
as well as an overview of the creative industries and employment
possibilities for graduates.
