BA (Hons) Creative Industries
Module Description for Level 3, Semester 2
Completion of the Major Creative Project (40 Credits)
This final semester module is linked to the Development of a
Major Media Project module in Semester One, and is a summation of
the student's entire learning in every module up to this point. It
is also a test of the student's skills, enterprise, judgement
and maturity.
The task is the completion of the media or performance project
begun in the previous semester, and requires that the production
process is also documented in a written paper or multi-media
presentation that sets out the development route, with an honest,
self-reflective analysis of what has been learned.
In this module, students have a final opportunity to refine and
prove their skills in conception, planning, analysis,
documentation, realisation and presentation, and represents the
highest achievement any student can produce on a creative or media
degree.
Professional Skills (20 Credits)
This module explores the future of the industry and reflects on
the skills which will be in demand over the next 20 years. The
remit is to test the student to their creative limit, using their
skills, experiences, knowledge and research gained over the
proceeding semesters to predict coming avenues of the industry.
This last module, alongside Completion of the Major Creative
Project, is the appropriate point to examine and evaluate the
forward view towards the industry today and tomorrow, and students
are expected to display imagination, foresight and realism in
projecting and predicting the future and their role in it.
These modules are taken simultaneously as the final
modules of the programme.
