Module Descriptions

Level 1, Semester 2 - Direct tuition of 14 hours per week, accruing 60 credits and giving year 1 a total of 120 credits.

Thirty Minute Script

This module develops scriptcraft skills founded in semester 1, and works towards the writing of a 30 minute script. This will:

  • Refine the script development process
  • Develop an individual and original voice
  • Apply an understanding of narrative structure, plots, sub-plots, characterisation, and uses of arena and genre

This module is taught over 6 hours of direct tuition per week and accrues 20 credits, lead by David Hanson with additional input from screen industry writers and producers.

Development of the Creative Industries

This module studies the origins and development of the creative industries by examining:

  • The history of creativity and the creative industries
  • Shifts in perception of the artist through time and geography
  • Revolutions in style across the creative fields

This is a 20 credit module of three hours direct tuition per week, taught by Juliet Alexander.

Media Technology for the Screen

This module provides students with skills in multi-media technology essential to modern screen production, including:

  • Filming digital video
  • Sound recording
  • Audio, video and picture editing software

This module is taught by Tim Harrison over five hours of direct tuition per week, and accrues 20 credits.
