Professional Biography

Robert specialises in editorial development and training for the highly-fluid digital media industry. His key areas of interest are new product creation, social media and strategic planning for long-term trends. A former reporter for Radio New Zealand and TVNZ, Robert joined the BBC in the late 90s as one of the founding journalists at its award-winning news website, and later become a producer for the technology TV show Click.

 

Robert has had stints in product development for interactive television, was Head of Multimedia at the Press Association and Editor of Guardian Video. He designed and implemented the social media strategy for BBC Radio 1's newsroom. At the BBC, he is currently engaged in research on the impact of new technologies for broadcasters and is a senior trainer in social media and digital journalism at the BBC Academy.
