Martine Magnussen

Message from Prof. Aldwyn Cooper, CEO of Regent's College

19 March 2008

The police have released the name of an individual that they wish to interview regarding the tragic death of Martine Magnussen.  It has been stated that the individual concerned is also a student of Regent's College and has recently fled the UK. Having received further information we are able to confirm this.

The police have still not contacted the College at any time during their investigations.  We have been informed that they are progressing their own enquiries and will contact us if needed. Clearly the College is ready to help the police in every way it can.

The College is aware that the police wish to speak to any Regent's College student who was with Martine on the night of Thursday 13th March. We appeal to anyone who has any information to contact the police incident desk: +44 (0) 20 8358 0300

The College is deeply saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts are with Martine’s family and friends at this time.

I know how distressing this can be for everybody, students and staff wishing to make use of the counselling services available should contact the College’s Therapy Centre.

Once we have had the opportunity to consult with the family, arrangements will be made for the College community to remember Martine.

Once we have had the opportunity to consult with the family, arrangements will be made for the College community to remember Martine.

This tragic event is subject to a full police investigation. They have informed us that they are progressing their own enquiries and will contact us if needed. Clearly the College is ready to help the police in every way it can.
