Current teaching: Banking Regulation, Microfinance, Global
Banking(MSc in Global Banking and Finance)
Current research and consultancy interests: microfinance; SME
finance and mutual guarantee institutions; Basel III; liquidity
risk; shadow banking; banking in Latin America; environmental
finance.
His most recent research projects focus on credit guarantee
institutions and SME finance and shadow banking and systemic risk:
in search for regulatory solutions. He is leading Transnational
Finance steram in RCTS.

Academic service
Professor Vento is an elected member of the Regent’s College
Senate. He is member of the editorial board of the following
international academic journals: International Journal of Business
and Finance Research; Accounting and Taxation; Revista
Internacional Administracion y Finanzas; Journal of Applied Finance
& Banking. He is member of the academic board of the PhD in
Banking and Finance at La Sapienza University, where he used to
supervise several PhD students. He presented papers in many
academic conferences worldwide. He used to be visiting professor in
the following universities: University of Buenos Aires, Universidad
Argentina de la Empresa, Universidad de San Andrés.
Biography
Since 2009, Professor Vento is member of the scientific
board of the Italian Agency for Microcredit (a government body
created to foster microfinance in Italy). He used to conduct
training courses, research and consultancy in microfinance and
rural finance in many developing countries.
He is member of the European Association of University Teachers
in Banking and Finance as well as of the Italian Association of
University Teachers in Banking and Finance. He gave lectures and
seminars in several universities, training centers and banks in
different countries, including the Universities of Rome “La
Sapienza”, Palermo, Bologna, Pescara, Campobasso and Bari (all in
Italy); the Universities of Buenos Aires, of San Andres, the
Universidad Argentina de la Empresa and the Argentinean Banking
Association (all in Argentina); the National University for
Distance Learning (UNED in Spain), UN Habitat (Serbia),
International Organisation for Migration (Tunisia), the Province of
Rome, the Lazio Region and Risorsa Donna Foundation, Unicredit Bank
and Mediocredito Centrale (all in Italy).
Before to join the academic career, for five years (2002 – 2007)
he was senior financial analyst at the Bank of Italy (Italian
central bank), where he also worked on the implementation of Basel
II, on liquidity risk management and, more generally, on risk
management and governance of financial institutions. He got
post-doc a scholarship on “The financial features of microfinance”
from University or Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy.
