Expectations and Reality: International Postgraduate Students - Research Methods – Supervision Provision

Dr Peter Sharp

Date: 27 September 2011, Tuesday

Time: 13.00

Venue: D203

What do international postgraduate business students expect from research methods teaching and their dissertation project experience? What is the reality of their experience?

This presentation introduces some research on the students’ research experience. It explains: the context of these students’ research work; relevant research methods module issues and; what was most helpful to them during their research journey.

This gives rich feedback to help identify key issues and promote the development of effective research and dissertation programmes for international students at Masters level.

"Webster has opened new horizons for me. Having lived in Ukraine under the former Soviet system, I was not sure I would be able to major in a society with developed markets and different mentality. Now everything is different. I have made friends from countries all over the world through Webster and have received valuable knowledge through my education.
