Erasmus staff mobility

The Erasmus programme offers staff the opportunity to carry out teaching or training placements at a partner institution or enterprise. This enables staff to experience different institutions or enterprises, teaching styles, exchange good practice and learn new ideas. In order to support staff financially while abroad, the Erasmus programme offers funding to those who meet the eligibility criteria. There are two main types of staff mobility:

• Academic staff who wish to teach at a partner institution
• Staff who wish to visit a partner institution for the purpose of training

For visits to partner institutions Regent’s College must hold a Bilateral Agreement with the relevant partner institution before mobility takes place. All Erasmus agreements are reciprocal. Therefore, if you participate in staff mobility you should expect to receive a visit from the partner institution in return.

How long will the placement last?

The recommended minimum duration for any staff mobility placement (teaching or training) is five working days and the maximum duration is six weeks.  For staff teaching placements shorter than five working days, there is a requirement to complete at least five teaching hours.

How do I apply for Erasmus funding?

Funding is available on an annual basis. In order to receive Erasmus funding, staff must be employed by Regent’s College on a full time contract. Interested staff are required to complete some paperwork  before, during and after the placement such as a work plan. Travel and subsistence grants are calculated on the basis of receipted expenditure.

The British Council is the National Agency responsible for administering the Erasmus programme. Further information including staff case studies can be found on their website. Staff interested in applying should contact the International Partnerships Office Manager for more information on burkec@regents.ac.uk
