Dr. Nicholas Bowen
Nick Bowen joined the European Business School
in 1980 and has held several positions within the School and now
within the Faculty of Business and Management. For the last seven
years, he has been Programme Director for the BA International
Business at EBS. His previous teaching experience has been
at institutions in the UK and the USA, and his Ph.D.
research (Magdalene College, Cambridge) took him to the USA and
Argentina.
With Alan Sitkin, he has just had published
(February 2010) by Oxford University Press, a textbook:
International Business: Challenges and Choices.
Nick is an Honorary Fellow of the
Chartered Institute of Linguists, a Fellow of the Higher Education
Academy, and a member of the Cartoon Arts Trust, the Political
Cartoon Society, and the Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club.
Nick has been involved for over 25 years with the Chartered
Institute of Linguists where he is currently a Trustee-Director and
Vice-Chairman of the Educational Trust, and a Member of the
Examinations Review Board.
Nick is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board
of Euro Asia Journal of Management and serves as External
Examiner (Business Foundation Degree, EHWL) at the University of
Westminster. As part of the Erasmus Teacher Mobility Scheme, Nick
lectured on international institutions and marketing of products
and services, at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Madrid in spring
2004. With colleagues, Nick presented papers on international
placements and the student experience at the ASET Annual
Conferences in Cambridge, Birmingham and Cardiff in
2004-07.
Dr. Vincent Carpentier
Dr. Carpentier (BA, MA, PGDip, PhD) is a
Senior Lecturer in History of Education at the Institute of
Education (IOE), University of London. His work focuses on
the social and economic history of education in the UK. His
research looks at the links between the development of educational
systems, long economic cycles and social change in Europe and the
USA with a particular interest on the political economy of higher
education. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Annual
EUREDOCS International Conference (European Research and Higher
Education Doctoral Studies). His latest publications are (2009)

Dr. Eric CK Chan
Eric has extensive global academic lecturing, consultancy and
personal development experiences. He has worked expansively as a
strategist, personnel development, trainer, lecturer, corporate
management/marketing consultant including people, change
management, leadership, teamwork, experiential learning and product
development in Europe and South East Asia. He has also worked with
hundreds of senior executives in organisations and individuals
ranging from high tech start-ups, SMEs, family businesses,
universities, non-profit and the person down the street on
personal, learning, thinking and team skills.
He is also an executive coach, accredited international life
coach and trainer for personal effectiveness and organisational
health. He is the ‘human’ network and trainer advisor for the Life
International Foundation for Ecology Academy (LIFE), Karlstad,
Sweden, in providing advanced training programmes and consultancy
in sustainable development for countries and economies in South
East Asia, Latin America and Africa. He is a member of the
Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Institute of Leadership and
Management (ILM), Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the
Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM). He has a MIBA and MBA,
with a PhD in Strategic Studies. He also has several
qualifications in alternative therapies.
Eric is currently the Programme Director
and Principal Lecturer for RBS MA in Global Management in
the Regent's College BAM faculty. He manages the RBS
experiential learning courses in outbound leadership and team
development. His own teaching and training areas include
Leadership, Teams Development, Global Business Simulation, Human
Communications, Brand You, Organisational Effectiveness, Business
and Life Essential Skills. He mentors and coaches various
Regent's teams in national and international Business Strategy
competitions; including the faculty advisor for Regent's
Students in Free Enterprise Team (SIFE) team. Among his research
interest is developing effective experiential learning sessions and
the TAO of Life to prepare individuals to be resilience,
resourceful, responsible, reflective and creative people.
Grant Chapman
Grant Chapman currently serves as Associate Vice President for
Academic Affairs and Director for International Programs at Webster
University.
Since 1992, Grant has held several posts with Webster having
served as a faculty member in the History, Politics and
International Relations department, Director for the Center for
International Education, and Director of the London campus at
Webster University. Grant held administrative posts with
Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas serving as Director for
International Programs and Provost. Grant regular teaches, writes,
and presents on matters of international law and international
education. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Japan in 2008
studying comparative higher education systems.
He was instrumental in having Webster recognized by NAFSA:
Association of International Educators for the Paul Simon Award for
Internationalization of the Campus in 2008. He was also
instrumental in bringing a Confucius Institute to Webster
University as the only Confucius Institute teaching and promoting
Chinese Language in the State of Missouri. Grant received his
Bachelor of Science in Political Science – International Public
Administration from Oklahoma State University and holds a M.A. and
Juris Doctorate (Doctor of Laws) from St. Louis
University.
Grant enjoys spending time playing and watching sports,
particularly playing football (soccer) and coaching his daughter’s
football (soccer) team, as well as traveling. He is a life
long Liverpool Football Club fan.
Paul C. Coldwell
Paul is Associate Head of Management &
Human Resources at Regent’s Business School, The European Business
School and Webster’s Graduate Business Schools within Regent’s
College. Prior to this post, he taught both M & B level courses
in HRM and Organisation Behavior at Middlesex University Business
School Hendon, North London. Previously, Paul was head of Career
Development at The London School of Business & Finance and
lectured at London South Bank University’s Business School,
Buckinghamshire University College Business School and Westminster
University Business School. Prior to joining the HR team at London
South Bank, he spent five years at the Saratoga Institute
Management Consultancy.
To date, he has worked with at least two
hundred Public Sector organisations across the United Kingdom. Paul
has been a contributor to the International Annual Human Asset
Benchmark reports published the UK Division of Saratoga
Institute (now part of Price Waterhouse Coopers). In addition,
Paul has wide experience in HR measurement and benchmarking within
international private sector businesses including aerospace,
chemicals, financial services and the food sector.
Paul’s consultancy experience focuses upon the
evaluation of the Cost Effectiveness and levels of Customer Focus
within the HR functions of businesses together with their ability
to align themselves to an organization’s core values, goals and
priorities. Paul’s experience as an operational HR manager within
RTZ Corporation, Rhone Poulenc of France and BUPA
Health Services has included hands on experience of
coordinating graduate selection, assessment and development schemes
as well as the design and delivery of senior management development
programs.
Paul’s earlier career was spent in Southern
Africa where he was employed as an exploration geologist/project
manager for Anglo American Corporation. Here, he was
employed as an expatriate professional responsible for project
managing all aspects of Mineral Exploration as well and the day-
to-day operational management of subcontractors and multicultural
and multidiscipline teams.
Following his successful discovery of a large
lead – zinc deposit he was awarded a scholarship by Anglo American
Corporation to Imperial College London to read for an MSc. Degree
in mineral exploration (inorganic chemistry and geophysics) where
he achieved a distinction. Paul achieved Chartered Engineer status
in 1981.
Paul gained his MBA from Henley Management
College in 1986 and became a member of the CIPD IN 1990. Paul was
awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Personnel and Development in
2003 and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in
2007. Paul has been a regular speaker at Conferences across
the UK on topics concerning the Management of Corporate Change,
Business Benchmarking and the Balanced Business Scorecard and the
Government’s Best Value program within its Modernization
Agenda.
Dr. Maria C. M. de Figueiredo-Cowen
Dr. Maria C. M. de Figueiredo-Cowen started her career as a
lecturer and senior administrator in the State University of Montes
Claros, in Brazil. She was also a regional adviser to CAPES, a
research agency of the Ministry of Education. She studied at the
Sorbonne, in Paris. She undertook her MSc in University Planning
and Administration at the University of Wisconsin, USA. Later she
obtained her PhD from the Institute of Education (IOE), University
of London where she became the Brazilian Lektor, appointed by the
Institute of Education in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry
of Foreign Affairs.
Her several activities include co-supervision of South American
graduate students, the co-ordination of graduate programmes in
Brazil and in Argentina, and the organisation of international
conferences and symposia. Her publications include Paulo Freire at
the Institute (with Denise Gastaldo), London, Institute of
Education University of London, 1995; and ´Latin American
Universities, Academic Freedom and Autonomy: a long-term myth? ´ in
Comparative Education, 2002.
Dr. Eric Jean García
Dr. Eric Jean García currently serves as the
Leadership & Management Lecturer at Sciences Po in Paris.
In addition to this, Eric is a consultant and researcher in
leadership and a reviewer for US & UK academic
journals.
Eric received his MBA in International
Management at the University of Dallas in the USA and went on to
receive his PhD and Mphil in Higher Education for Leadership
Knowledge and Development at the Institute of Education at the
University of London in the UK. He was the Academic Dean of
EBS Paris, Dean of INSEEC Paris, and executive trainer and
lecturer. As well, Eric was the CEO of Pretty Star
Expansion (Franchise) and the Export Director for
Bidermann International.
He has contributed to numerous publications

Dr. Francisco J. Lara García
Francisco J. Lara is Vice President of
International Relations of the Catholic University of Valencia. PhD
at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in the field of Business
Organization, and in the topic of Knowledge Management and Human
Resources.
Master in Human Resources Management at the
Garrigues Study Centre, Madrid and attended the Executive
Program of IESE Business School, Madrid about Leadership at Public
Management. Bachelor Degree in Law from the University of Navarra.
Scholarship of Foundation Rafael del Pino, for Harvard Summer
Research Programme for Management Professors from Spain.
He gives several lectures at international
levels in different countries and universities about the topic of
Knowledge Management, Human Resource Management and Leadership
Competencies. He is also Professor at undergraduate, postgraduate
and doctoral programmes at the Catholic University of Valencia
about Human Resource Management and Leadership, and Academic
Director of the Master Programme of Human Resource Management at
the INEDE Business School.
Laurence Hopkins
Laurence Hopkins is a Researcher at The Work Foundation on its
Knowledge Economy programme. The programme’s primary aim is to set
out a credible view of what a balanced and sustainable economy
would look like in 2020, and describe the options for government,
organisations, and institutions for getting there. His current
areas of research include skills for innovation and enterprise, the
creative industries, and the potential for growth in the UK’s
higher education exports.
Prior to joining The Work Foundation, Laurence worked at the
Change Institute delivering research and evaluation projects for a
range of European and UK public sector clients including Arts
Council England, Cultural Leadership Programme, Communities and
Local Government and the European Commission.
Laurence has a MSc in Public Policy from University College
London, a BA Hons in Politics and Psychology from University of
Auckland, New Zealand and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
Manufacturing and Commerce.
Aliar Hossain
Aliar Hossain currently serves
as Director of Studies for East Midlands School of
Business & Management and senior lecturer for London School of
Business & Management. In addition to this, he is
involved with consultancy, teaching and training for organisation
or institution that incorporates the CSR ethos into its business
model to integrate creatively economic, social and environmental
issues. He has over 6 years consulting and corporate training
experiences in various organisations and sectors related with
business and management issues (different countries in EU, Middle
East and South Asia).
He has visited numerous UK and Asian
Universities and Colleges as speaker for Change Management, CSR,
Leadership Development, Personal Development, Corporate Culture and
Sustainable Development issues. He has full Membership of
Institute of Business Consulting (a part organisation of Chartered
Management Institute) and European Association of International
Education (EAIE).
He also has involvement with LIFE Academy (an
organisation working with SIDA and Karlstad University,
Sweden). He has had several papers published.
Professor Alan M. Jones
Alan Jones originally trained as a teacher and
taught in primary and secondary schools, eventually becoming deputy
headmaster and director of studies of a large 1,600 pupil
comprehensive school. He subsequently retrained in management
studies at Aston University Business Schools where he earned an MSc
degree.
He then set up his own management, executive
search and education consultancy based in Birmingham which he ran
for over ten years, travelling extensively throughout the world on
business. Dr Jones then joined the PA Consulting Group before
being appointed Senior Research Fellow at the University of Warwick
Business School. With professors Andrew Pettigrew and Chris
Hendry he was part of a team investigating the development of
small-medium size enterprises across twenty five industry
sectors. He then followed this up with a three year study of
how adults learn in organizations, the topic eventually forming the
basis of his PhD and a book which he wrote with Chris
Hendry.
Alan then moved to Henley Management College
as director of company (executive) programmes and taught
extensively on the doctoral degree and MBA programmes. After
Henley he moved back to Warwick Business School as Director of
Business Development before being appointed Executive Director of
the Academy of International Management. Clients have
included Diageo, British Airways, Lloyds Bank, HSBC, Severn Trent
Water plc, international invest banks and National Grid.
Prior to joining Regent’s College he was Head
of School and professor of management education at the University
of Chester.
Dr. Jones has served as Chairman of Council of
the Association of Business Executives, now one of the largest
international professional examining bodies He was awarded a
special prize in 2004 by the United Arab Emirates Government
for the work he did with international students and recently he was
appointed an Associate Fellow of Warwick University Business
School for a period of three years to help develop a research
project, with Professor David Wilson, looking at how society
utilises the talents and skills of the older person.
Dr. Olaf Jubin
Dr. Olaf Jubin holds a PhD in Communication
Studies and an MA in Communication Studies, Comparative Literature,
Film and Television Studies from the Ruhr-University Bochum,
Germany. He has lectured in universities since 1995 and has
undertaken a number of research projects in the field of mass
communications.
He is currently teaching undergraduate and
postgraduate courses in Media Studies and Musical Theatre at
Regent’s College and Goldsmiths College, University of London. His
own publications as author and editor include journal articles, a
column on landmark musicals as well as academic essays and books on
musical theatre, theatre reviewing, the dubbing and subtitling of
films and commercial television. Research interests include the
musical on stage and screen, Stephen Sondheim, Tim Rice, Japanese
cinema of the 1950s, film directors Kenji Mizoguchi and Brian De
Palma and the film star, Doris Day.
Sandra Kabir
Sandra Kabir has worked in development in various
capacities since 1976 with donor agencies, international and
national NGOs. She has worked predominantly in the areas of sexual
and reproductive health and rights and women’s development. She was
awarded the international STIMEZO Prize in 1988 for her
contribution to making abortion safe worldwide. Sandra established
the Bangladesh Women’s Health Coalition in 1979 and played a major
role in the creation of EL TALLER (a global NGO movement), among
other achievements. Sandra was an elected Councillor of the London
Borough of Brent till May 2006.
Dr. Muzong Kodi
Dr. Muzong Kodi is currently an Associate
Fellow, Africa Programme at Chatham
House. His expertise includes anti-corruption and
governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC); human rights
in the DRC; and development of civil society
organisations.
Muzong has worked on many projects that
include studies of the integrity systems of selected African
countries; measuring success in the anti-corruption commissions of
selected African countries; assessing the performance of governance
civil society organisations in Africa; and anti-corruption,
governance and human rights in post-conflict
reconstruction.
Muzong was the Regional Director for Africa
and the Middle East, International Secretariat, Transparency
International in Berlin, Germany as well as a former Director for
the International Development Unit, International Secretariat,
Amnesty International in London, United Kingdom.
Dr. Valerie Kaneko-Lucas
Originally from California, Dr. Valerie
Kaneko-Lucas has worked for many years in London as a theatre
scholar, director and designer. Her international career as a
scholar and theatre director has encompassed England, Wales, Europe
and the United States.
Dr. Kaneko-Lucas holds a BA from the
University of California, Santa Cruz, a Diploma in Theatre Studies
from University of Wales Cardiff, and MA and PhD from the
University of Essex. She is now the Head of Regent’s American
College London.
Luzia Laffoux
Since January 2010 Luzia Laffoux has been
studying an MA in Higher and Professional Education at the
Institute of Education, University of London. She has particular
interest in researching the politics of policy making within Higher
Education as these relate to government initiatives for promoting
widening participation. Luzia also believes that the IOE MA she is
studying for corresponds to the specific needs of her current
position as an Academic Administrator at Regent’s College, as it is
assisting her to make substantial and focussed contributions to the
College and its people. Luzia has previously worked as a PA for one
of the Directors of a Trade Union in Brazil, where her main role
was to liaise with Trade Unions from the Mercosul and the rest of
the world on gender equity matters. She is graduated from London
Metropolitan University with a BSc Public Administration and Social
Policy. While studying at Londonmet she had a work placement at the
TUC European Union and International Relations Department, where
she developed a greater understanding of how employees organise
themselves on an international scale. This internship led her to
the conclusion that, in a global job market, employees are more
likely to realise their potential if they have appropriate access
to an internationalised system of higher education; as it could
raise quality within other aspects in HE and benefit developing
countries, its teachers, students and the international society as
a whole.
Lady Sophie Laws
Sophie Laws holds MA and MLitt degrees in
Theology from Oxford University, and has been a lecturer in
Theology at Leeds University and King’s College London. She has
also been a Visiting Professor at a number of universities in the
USA.
Sophie joined Regent’s College in 1985, the
year the College opened its doors to the first students on
study-abroad from the US. She is currently Programme Director for
Study-Abroad in RACL, with responsibility for the curriculum and
general college experience offered to around 170 American students
who come each semester from over 50 higher education institutions
affiliated with Regent’s College. She builds relationships with
theses affiliates by regular visits to the USA.
Sophie is also Programme Director for
Humanities in RACL, overseeing courses which specialize in
experiential learning and making full use of the opportunities
London offers to study-abroad students. Her own teaching areas
include Roman Britain and Mediaeval England: so from both her
subject interests and her long career at Regent’s, she claims to
“represent the ancient world on campus”!
Yossi Mekelberg
Yossi Mekelberg graduated in Political Science
from Tel Aviv University. He has an MA degree, with
distinction, in International Relations from Middlesex University.
He has taught International Relations at
Webster University, Regent’s College, London since 1996 and is
currently the head of the International Relations department.
His fields of interest are International Relations theory,
Middle East politics, US foreign policy and International
Regulations and revolutions.
Yossi Mekelberg is also an associate fellow of
the Middle East programme at the Royal institute of international
affairs, Chatham House. Among his research interests in the
institute are: international politics in the Middle East, the
Arab-Israeli peace process and the implications of the war in Iraq
for the region. He is a regular contributor to the
international media on these issues.
Nova Soul Band
Nova Soul is an 8-piece London-based tribute band with a funky,
neo soulful, jazzy r n’b groovy edge. Formed in 2008 the band
performs covers ranging from the seventies soul to modern day
tunes. Their repertoire includes the likes of Aretha Franklyn,
Cheryl Lynn, Sister Sledge, to Erika Badu, Jill Scott, Angie Stone
etc. as well as original pieces. With an array of soulful harmonies
and a strong lead vocal the band’s professional aptitude and
quality performances have seen the band invited to perform at the
Pigalie, Music Box ,Troy Bar and Mau Mau just to name a few.

Mark Saberton
Mark Saberton, Baritone studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of
Music and Drama. He has sung with many opera companies including
Royal Opera, Scottish Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park,
Mid Wales Opera and Savoy Opera. Roles include Rigoletto,
Rigoletto, Kentish Opera, Bottom, A Midsummer Night's
Dream, Opera Project/Longborough Festival, Figaro, Barber
of Seville, Heritage Opera Scarpia, Tosca, Heritage
Opera, Ben Budge/Wat Dreary, Beggars Opera, Royal
Opera, Antonio for Garsington Opera and at the Barbican with Jane
Glover conducting, Narumov and cover of Count Tomsky, Queen of
Spades, Opera Holland Park, Krusina, Bartered Bride,
Mid Wales Opera, and the Hotel Waiter, Death in Venice for
the Aldeburgh and Bregenz Festivals conducted by Paul Daniel. Mark
works regularly with David Owen Norris and The Works with whom he
toured Two Murders and a Marriage.
He has appeared several times on BBC Radio 3 and sung in a
variety of Oratorios and Recitals throughout the UK and Ireland in
works such as, Mendelssohn Elijah, Brahms
Requiem, Handel Messiah and Haydn
Creation. On recording he appears as Ben Budge/Wat Dreary
in The Beggars Opera with the City of London Sinfonia
under Christian Curnyn. Future engagements include Escamillo in
Carmen for Kentish Opera, the title role in
Don Giovanni and Sharpless in Madam Butterfly
next summer for Heritage Opera.
Professor Michael Scriven
He is Professor of European Studies, Director of the Institute
of Contemporary European Studies, Director of the European Business
School London and a member of the European Business Schools
International (EBSI) group. He was formerly Professor of European
Studies and Director of the Centre for European Studies at the
University of the West of England Bristol, and Professor of French
studies at the University of Bath.
He has published extensively in the field of French and European
intellectual history, culture and politics in both France and
Britain, most notably in Europe, French Cultural Studies,
Modern and Contemporary France, Journal of European Studies, Media,
Culture and Society and Les Temps Modernes. His most
recent publications include Television Broadcasting in
Contemporary France and Britain (Berghahn, 1999) and Group
Identities on French and British Television (Berghahn, 2003
and 2004).
Dr. Peter Sharp
Peter Sharp is a doctor in Knowledge
Management (KM) and information systems (IS) development strategy.
He is a Principal Lecturer and is currently leading action research
projects for the Business and Management faculty at Regent’s
College. He is also module leader of the Work Placements module for
the MA in Global Management at Regent’s Business School London. He
is also an advisor on postgraduate research and business skills
programmes, a PhD supervisor and works in Regent’s College Senate
and the Senate Research committee.
He has considerable experience in postgraduate
Research, Dissertation and Business Skills Programmes. He has been
MA Programme Manager of international postgraduate courses and has
experience in a full range of activities including development,
validation and implementation of MA programmes. He pioneered a new
KM method for organisations called MaKE [tm] which has been applied
in a wide range of organisations at a strategic level. He advises
different public and private sector organisations on a range of
research, training and KM issues. He is also a visiting lecturer
and advisor to universities.
Peter has an established record of
international publications, given presentations across the world,
chaired streams at many conferences. He also chaired the European
Conference of Research Methodology in Business and Management
Studies 2008 (ECRM 2008) held at Regent’s College on
19th and 20th June 2008. This year he gave a
Keynote address at ECRM 2009 (22nd and 23rd
June 2009). He is on the editorial board of the Electronic Journal
of Knowledge Management (EJKM), Electronic Journal of Business
Research Methods (EJBRM) and the International Journal of
Knowledge-Based Organizations (IJKBO).
He is a member of a range of relevant
professional groups related to his roles and areas of interest.
These include the City Information Group, UK Academy of Information
Systems (UKAIS), the British Academy of Management and the London
Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a committee member of
Special Interest Groups related to research methods and Knowledge
Management in the British Academy of Management. He is also a
fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Peter is currently interested in the field of
action research projects that apply KM and learning concepts to
address organisational problems. He also interested in networking
and its effect on organisations and their development.
Peter also enjoys a range of other activities.
He is also a Christian youth group leader and enjoys football,
table tennis, badminton, landscape painting and cycling.
Diana Sharpe
Diana Rosemary Sharpe is Programme
Director for the MBA in Webster Graduate School.
She teaches in the areas of International
Business, Management and Organizational Behaviour. Research
interests are in the broad area of the Transfer of Management
Practices and work systems across contexts and within multinational
organizations. Research has been published in journals
including Journal of International Management, International
Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Management Studies
and Asian Business and Management Journal. She is co-editor of New
Horizons in Asian Management (Hasegawa and Sharpe) and a
contributor to ‘Images of the Multinational Firm (Collinson and
Morgan 2009).
Martin Timbrell, Dean of Business and Management
A graduate in Economics at Cambridge, he
studied Econometrics at Warwick before starting his research career
at the University of Manchester’s Inflation Workshop. He has
travelled widely in his teaching and ambassadorial roles,
especially in the Far East.
Appointed as a Lecturer in Economics at the
University of Exeter in 1976, he is the author and editor of
numerous books and articles in academic and professional journals.
He was Editor of the Stock Exchange Yearbook 1992-1998, Who’s Who
in the City 1996-1998 and the Directory of Multinational Companies
1997.
He became the first Head of the School of
Business and Economics in 1997 before moving to the University of
Hertfordshire as Dean of the Business School in 1999.
In 2005 he was appointed Director of
International Development, responsible for the university’s
international vision, strategy and staff development. In particular
he was responsible for the development of academic programmes for
international students and the international student
experience.
Martin moved to Regent’s College as the Dean
of Business and Management in September 2007.
Dr. Àngels Trias i Valls
Àngels is a social anthropologist working as a Senior Research
Assistant at iCES. After reading for a doctorate in Social
Anthropology at Queen’s (Belfast), she has held posts as a Lecturer
in Social Anthropology at Queen’s, LSB Dublin, and University of
Wales. She has conducted ethnographic research in Japan, Catalonia,
Wales and London. Her research interests are on the theme of
economic and visual anthropology, gender and sexuality, and virtual
communication technologies.
In addition to her published books and articles, she is the
editor of Anthropology Review: Dissent and Cultural Politics, and
one volume of Why Social Science Matters? with the University of
Birmingham, and Interrogating Consent and Dominance with
Berghahn Journals. In November 2009 she received the Higher
Education Academy C-SAP recognition award for her contribution to
the discipline of anthropology.

Owen Tudor
Owen Tudor became Head of the TUC’s European
Union and International Relations Department in October 2003. He is
a substitute member of the European Trade Union Confederation
(ETUC) executive committee and the International Confederation of
Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) executive board.
He is a member of the Health and Safety
Commission (and before that, of its Advisory Committee on Toxic
Substances) and represents the TUC on the Government's statutory
Industrial Injuries Advisory Council. He was formerly a member of
the Social Security Advisory Committee and a founder member of the
Civil Justice Council.
Since he joined the TUC in 1984, Mr. Tudor has
dealt with training policy, the arts, education, youth
organisation, social security, disability, health and safety,
industrial injury benefits and rehabilitation.
Ge Yu
Ge Yu graduated from the China Conservatoire with a B.Mus.
(Performance) in 2006 and obtained a M.Mus. (Performance) at the
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2008. She has
given concerts and recitals in China, Italy and Scotland from a
repertoire including operatic arias from Rigoletto, Turandot,
Les Contes d’Hoffmann, La Rondine, Madama Butterfly, Gianni
Schicchi and La Bohème; and oratorio solos by Handel
and Bach. Ge Yu also performs lieder by Schubert and Richard
Strauss, and songs by Debussy, Fauré, Ravel and Rachmaninov.
