Transnational Management received some attention as many organisations have become 'stateless' avoiding national borders and thus also often avoiding certain regulations (Eom 1994 and Bob 2005). This requires transnational management support systems and an overall transnational vision and understanding.
The transnational organisation would typically have a more complex structure in its operations where decision making is spread over several countries and substantial portions of their upward and downward operations are based outside the home country. Similarly, significant portions of staff are located in different countries. Such organisations may have a central corporate facility but their value chain activities are spread across the countries they operate. Thus the organisation is not dependent on one country while also seeking synergies arising from operations in different countries (See Sirkeci, 2013).
