IÉSEG School of Management

IÉSEG School of Management is one of the top Business Schools in France, ranked 7th in France and 21th in the Financial Times Masters in Management 2014 ranking. Established in 1964 in Lille, the school has a second campus in Paris at La Défense, Europe's biggest business hub. The School has a total of 4300 students on both campuses. More than 83% of IÉSEG’s faculty is international, and the School has a network of more than 220 partner universities in more than 50 countries. IÉSEG collaborates closely with the largest institute for basic research in Europe, the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

IÉSEG School of Management is triple-crown accredited (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA) and was the first French post-baccalaureate business school to be awarded with EQUIS accreditation in 2015.  The institution received AMBA accreditation for the following programmes: Executive MBA, International MBA and the Master of Science in International Business (MIB).

IÉSEG’s modern campus in Paris is located in the iconic Grande Arche building, at the heart of the business district of La Défense.  This prime location allows the school to reinforce its links with companies and build on its already excellent reputation nationally and internationally. Paris is the location of major headquarters (French and international companies: Darty, FNAC, NEspresso, etc). Furthermore, many branches of these companies have offices surround the Grande Arche of La Defence. (such as GE, Ernst & Young, FNAC, etc).

Lille campus of IÉSEG School of Management is located in the heart of Lille in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, well known for its welcoming atmosphere and dynamic youth population. IÉSEG School of Management campus is located within easy walking distance from student residences and restaurants and the commercial and cultural center of Lille, one of the largest student cities in European metropolis.

Lille Campus

IÉSEG’s facilities (classrooms, multimedia centres, cafeterias and offices) are accessible to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All students have an ID card with a magnetic strip that allows for individual access. More than 200 computer workstations connected to the Internet are available to students and faculty. The Vauban University Library (Bibliothèque Universitaire Vauban) has over 55,000 books and more than 600 journal subscriptions, making it a modern research centre with state-of-the-art electronic resources.
For both students and professors, IÉSEG is a place for learning, living and sharing.

Paris Campus

On the 6000 sqm platform, the campus has 13 amphitheaters, 10 classrooms, 3 multimedia centres, library, cafeteria and rooms available for school associations. IÉSEG opened another building of 2000 sqm in September 2011.

International Club is a student organisation which is responsible for the organisation of welcome activities, trips, parties, language café, dinners and the buddy programme.

Compulsory induction week : Your attendance is required for the Orientation week held prior to class start dates for each semester.

 

Academic life

The minimum language level requirement for the SPA at IÉSEG is B1.

Beyond the possible informality of the classroom, professors are very demanding. Regular class attendance and involvement in class discussions are expected. Part of the final grade will often be based on class participation. The professors commonly use lecture and discussion sessions. They assign readings to supplement the lectures and discussions. Examinations cover materials discussed in class as well as readings done outside the class. There are also frequent quizzes, papers and tests throughout of semester. It is very important to meet the deadlines assigned. All professors are accessible via email, the permanent professors have offices at IÉSEG.

The Grading System in France ranges from 0 to 20 with 0 being the lowest and 20 being the highest. 10 - 12 is considered to be a pass mark with further details outlined below:

10-12 Passable, 12-14 Assez-Bien, 14-16 Bien, 16-20 Très Bien. Highest : 20, Pass : 10, Lowest : 0.

IÉSEG School of Management offers more than 200 courses taught in English. Students can choose courses in our 5-year Grande Ecole Programme. Students can also choose courses from a 3-year Bachelor of Business Administration program covering the fundamentals of management, in which courses are taught in both French and English.

Workload

FRENCH SPA workload requirements:

You are required to take a minimum of 20 ECTS per SPA semester from the subjects approved by EBSL, although you may want to register for more if you wish.

ENGLISH SPA workload requirements:

You are required to take 30 ECTS per SPA semester from the courses approved by EBSL.

Please note the following when selecting your modules:

  • You may not enrol in any course that you have previously taken at EBS London, Regent's University London
  • Ensure the module you are interested in is running in your SPA semester (AS =autumn semester = 1st semester SS= spring semester = 2nd semester)
  • Courses must be one semester long. Students may not be allowed to take year long courses
  • If you are doing the SPA in the target language, you can include one language course as part of your workload
  • All courses must be taught and examined in the target SPA language
  • You must submit your Learning Agreement with the courses you have registered for no later than three weeks after your arrival at the host institution

 

Passing requirements

FRENCH SPA passing requirements:

Students must pass a minimum of 15 ECTS credits per semester during their Study Period Abroad.

ENGLISH SPA passing requirements:

You are required to pass 30 ECTS per SPA semester from the courses approved by Regent’s.

Students must sit all the exams and complete all assignments for the courses they have registered for.

If you fail to meet these requirements, you will be required to make up the missing credits.

Students are permitted to take resit exams on SPA at IÉSEG.

Lifestyle

Located at La Défense in Paris, IÉSEG is near the CNIT (National Center for Industry and Technology) and the Grande Arche, is close to the head offices of the largest French and international business firms. The Department of the Hauts-de-Seine, an economically vibrant area, is also home to 27,000 small and medium sized businesses, hence recognised as one of the largest business centres in Europe.

IÉSEG is part of Université Catholique de Lille, France’s largest private university, which in structure, size, infrastructure, resources and quality is very similar to some famous British universities. Being a member of the university allows IÉSEG students to have access to many additional resources: a refectory and university restaurants, the sports centre, medical centre, etc.

Accommodation

IÉSEG provides different housing options: student and private residences, as well as private housing (private landlords) and apartment sharing. Students can choose out of those options, and give their 3 choices to our housing contact by email.  It will be more difficult to find housing on arrival, so IÉSEG strongly advises students to register for housing as soon as they contact them. Leasing contracts are for a one semester period minimum. Students are required to subscribe an insurance to cover personal and civil liability (this can be done once the student arrives in France).

Approximate Cost of Housing, depending on type of housing and duration of stay:

  • Lille: between EUR 400 and 600 per month
  • Paris: between EUR 400 and 850 per month

In Lille, IÉSEG has two residences:

  • Concordia is 15 minutes away from IÉSEG campus (walking distance). It has 125 furnished studios. Fees: from 461 Euros. Address: 3, Bd de La Moselle, 59000 Lille
  • Estrella is a small residence, in the heart of the IÉSEG campus, can accommodate 19 students. It has 8 twin rooms and 3 single rooms.  Fees: from 461 Euros. Address: 9, rue Solferino, 59000 Lille

In Paris, IÉSEG has got an agreement with the following student residences, which means that specific number of rooms is reserved for IÉSEG students.

  • Pythagore Grande Arche is a residence where the most young professionals on internships or regular students stay during their work placements or study programs in La Defense.  There are a few banks, a grocery store, a pharmacy, some traditional French bakeries, some restaurants, movie theatres and a large shopping centre located near the residence. Studios are equipped and furnished with kitchen, sofa  bed, bed tables, bathroom. Services provided by the residence include monthly cleaning, fitness room, cafeteria with TV, laundry, rental of the iron and the iron desk, telephone and internet. Fees: from 640 Euros. Address: 54 Avenue Puvis de Chavvannes, 92400 Courbevoie.
  • Estudines Nanterre  is located in the city of Nantarre in the North West Paris. The campus is reachable in 15 minutes by bus 258. The residence is located in the North West of Paris. The residence is located in the town’s main street, close to Place de la Boule, shops and the university. This student residence offers studios (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area) and one bedroom apartment (bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen area). Fees: from 680 Euros. Address: 50 rue des Vignes, 92000 Nanterre
  • Icade Vanves Residence Jean Bleuzen is located in the city on Vanves. It has 27000 inhabitants and offers a safe and peaceful life. The campus is reachable by subway. The apartments are studio apartments (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen). Rent goes from 610 to 670 Euros according to the size of the apartment. The services available include internet, monthly breakfast and monthly cleaning of the studio.

Application

Students who have been nominated to study at IÉSEG will be sent an application pack via email the semester before they are due to start their SPA.

Health Insurance  

You must provide evidence of having an appropriate, comprehensive health insurance. This is usually required at the time of submitting your application.

If you come from an EU country, remember to apply for a European health insurance card (EHIC) before leaving.

 

Visa requirements

A resident permit “carte de séjour” is required for anyone planning to stay in France for more than three months. When foreign students (outside the European Economic Area) arrive in France, they must be in possession of a D "Etudiant" visa (extended studies visa) with the written indication "carte de séjour à solliciter dès l'arrivée en France" (residence permit to be requested immediately on arrival in France) which is issued by the French Embassy in their home country. Any other visas (e.g. tourist short stay visa ) do not allow foreigners to stay in France for more than 3 months.
