Our integrated business foundation year is designed to provide you with the core business, economics and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to enable you to progress on to the BA (Hons) International Business. During the year you will develop mathematical and analytical skills, conduct research and write in both academic and business English.
You will learn to analyse problems and propose a range of solutions you have personally developed. You will also be able to apply the knowledge and skills you have learned as part of a business development project.
Internationalism, innovation, creativity, leadership, and employability are the key themes of this programme. You will develop a broad base of core business, management, intercultural and language skills which will equip you as a leader, strategist and decision-maker of the future.
Language and intercultural intelligence are a very important features of the degree. You will study a foreign language and spend two terms at one of our many partner institutions around the world.
In addition, significant periods of work experience during your studies will challenge you to test your learning in a variety of real-world business and cultural settings.
This is a full time programme with integrated foundation. It takes 5 years to complete if you start in September or 4.5 years if you start in January.
If you begin the programme in January, you will complete your second term in the summer (May to August). This enables you to begin your second year in September and complete your degree in 4.5 years. You will study for the same number of terms as students starting in September, but over a shorter period of time.
Subsequent years of study then follow a standard academic year format of autumn and spring terms.
The design of the programme enables you to develop a full knowledge and understanding of business and management, to acquire the relevant language and cultural skills, to choose subject areas of interest from a wide range of options, to take advantage of studying and working in more than one ‘foreign’ country and to experience the real world through work placements.
You will be able to choose one core target language from Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. Languages are taught with a marked focus on professional communication skills, which prepares you to succeed in your SPA and beyond.
You can either study a language as complete beginner or choose a language that you already speak and be accepted up to an intermediate level of competence in the language. You must not have an A-level equivalent award issued by the country of the target language (e.g. a student cannot take French if they have a French Baccalauréat). The level will be ascertained in a diagnostic test on enrolment.
You can also choose to study a second foreign language as an elective.

Study Period Abroad (SPA)
You will study abroad in Term 5 and 6*, spending time in one (or two) countries to gain life-changing international experience. Your target language choice will determine which partner institution/s is/are available for you. You may replace one of your SPA terms in an English speaking country, e.g. USA or Australia, subject to the competency of target language and the approval of SPA Academic Advisor. At least one of your SPA terms must be in the target language of your degree.
We have partnerships with over a hundred around the world. This provides students with the opportunity to strengthen intercultural understanding, gain exposure to a more varied selection of academic modes, as well as significantly driving up their language skills. The University’s International Partnerships Office will support you before, during and after your SPA.

Placement Learning Project (PLP)
This is an optional replacement for the second SPA in Term 6. The Placement Learning Project is a 4 to 5 month (16 week minimum) module which aims to formally and academically utilise the student’s theoretical business knowledge in a real-life industry environment. The module is formed of these three elements:
• a 16 week placement in an internship setting
• a formal and concurrent structure of academic submissions
• a supervisory tutor/student relationship
Work placements are an integral part of the programme and you are required to undertake two 8-week blocks of work placements before the final year of study, in order to gain valuable industry experience, and also to provide a source of reflection and investigation for your final-year capstone module – Applied Business Project.
The work placements provide practical enrichment of your learning, allowing you to test your knowledge in a variety of real-world business and cultural settings. Such experience is highly valued by potential employers and will significantly enhance your career prospects and employability after graduation.
The University’s Careers & Business Relations team will support you throughout your placement.
*You may eligible to replace your second SPA in Term 6 with a Placement Learning Project (PLP). The PLP requires the student to undertake a 16-week Internship and conduct and academic analysis/investigation of certain aspects of the placement and our role. Various academic submissions are demanded, culminating in the submission of a major report.

The integrated foundation year employs a wide range of teaching methods including:
A wide range of curriculum delivery methods are used on the BA (Hons) International Business including; lectures, seminars, role plays, case studies, external guest speakers, e-learning via VLE, field trips, leadership experiences at another specialist location, seen and unseen examinations, presentations, written assignments, portfolio building, group work, simulations, peer assessments and workshops. Considerable emphasis is placed on self-directed personal development through assessments and module curricula.
As you progress through the levels of the programme, the emphasis shifts from learning to analysis and critical appraisal of the subject matter, reflecting your academic and personal development. We emphasise the practical application of academic learning. You will explore real-world case studies, visit different organisations and hear from regular guest lecturers, offering new perspectives from industry and academia.
The integrated foundation year uses a variety of assessment methods including reflective reviews, exercises around practical business problems, presentations and case studies.
A wide variety of assessments are used on the BA (Hons) International Business to assess student progress towards meeting intended programme learning outcomes. Students will receive feedback on formative assessments and be given the opportunity to demonstrate competency through summative submissions.

The complex, fast-moving world of international business offers many challenges and opportunities. The diverse nature of the BA (Hons) International Business programme will prepare you for a career as a leader, manager, strategist or entrepreneur in many different sectors and in small, large, multinational or family-run businesses across the world.
All areas of the international business sector will be open to you, including Management, Finance, Banking, IT and Big Data Analytics, Corporate Governance, Consultancy, Strategy, Retail, Human Resources, Advertising and Marketing.
You can also seek the opportunities to specialise your knowledge and skills by taking a more specialised postgraduate degree. Examples of postgraduate degrees undertaken by our students are MSc in Finance, MSc in Banking, MSc in Investment and Wealth Management, MSc in Marketing, MA in Brand Management, MA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, MA in Human Resource Management, MSc in Management with Technology Management, etc.

How to apply
Applying to study at Regent's University London is quick and easy. We have put together some helpful information to guide you through the process. We accept direct applications, have no formal application deadlines and there is no application fee.
Step 1 Apply

If you have not uploaded the relevant supporting documents during the online application process, you should ensure that we have the below supporting documents as soon as you have completed your application. These can be sent to the Regent’s Admissions Department via email to email@example.com.
Step 2 Receive a response to your application
You can expect to receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of receipt of your completed application and supporting documents.
We will assess whether you meet our entry requirements and will notify you of the decision via email. UCAS applicants will also receive official notification via the UCAS system.
For some of our programmes, the selection process may include an interview or audition. Interviews/auditions can take the form of a one-to-one interview, group interview or portfolio review which may be conducted by telephone or as a Skype call. Arrangements of these are made between the Admissions Department and the applicant.
Step 3 Accepting your offer
If you wish to accept the offer you must pay the advance tuition fee deposit (non-refundable) to confirm your place.

Step 4 After you have accepted your place
Closer to the start of the term, the Admissions Team will send information regarding the registration process. This will include information on completing your online enrolment prior to your arrival as well as a checklist of documents you will need to bring with you to fully register onto the programme.

Fees January 2018
First level tuition fee: £16,400
Home/EU students advance deposit: £500 (non-refundable)
Non-EU advance deposit: £4,000 (non-refundable)
Students who begin in January pay tuition fees of £8,200 per term for the spring and summer terms.
In the second and third years, all students pay tuition fees for the autumn and spring terms.
This means that in the first calendar year of their studies, January starters pay for three terms: spring, summer and autumn. The overall number of terms paid for over the entire programme is, however, the same as for September starters.
