Alison Allden brings a wealth of experience and know how gained from involvement with the UK and international provision of higher education and the student experience.
She recently retired from her role as the Chief Executive of the Higher Education Statistics Agency which she led for six years. This charitable company collects data and creates an information base for universities in the UK, for use by the public, the universities themselves, students and policy makers.
Prior to that Alison was on the senior executive of Bristol University as Deputy Registrar and Director of Information Services, with responsibility for all the student facing services, including student administration, the library and IT, the residences, student welfare, sport and the Students’ Union. Before that she was Director of IT at Warwick University from 1998 – 2003 and moved into the university sector in 1993 as Director of Computing for Goldsmiths College.
She has sat on various national committees including the Jisc Board supporting IT across the HE sector and concerned with data and information management and the ESRC and AHRC research councils. She has been on the Board of Northumbria University and several of its committees and also served as a school governor at two schools.
In 2016 New Year’s Honours she was awarded an OBE for services to Higher Education.
