Joanne Harris


Professional Biography

Joanne Harris is a lecturer with 22 years' experience of teaching in further education, higher education and adult education. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In the last 12 years, she has developed her an expertise in teaching interdisciplinary theory relevant to fashion students which draws on history, sociology, art and design history, media theory, philosophy and psychology. This enables students to see fashion in its broader context and develops their academic skills and critical thinking ability, equipping them to produce intelligent, thoughtful and industry relevant analysis. She is committed to the ongoing development of her teaching practice and is engaged in continuous professional development.
