A Joint Seminar with the Institute for Contemporary European Studies and the Senior European Experts.
Tuke Common Room, Regent’s University London
Several attempts have been made to reach a comprehensive trade and investment agreement between the EU and the USA but all have failed up to now.
Following President Obama's decision to back fresh negotiations, and the wide measure of agreement within the EU that such a deal would be of great value to both economies, is there now the political will to make this happen?
The speakers will discuss the prospects of such an historic deal being achieved with an audience of invited guests and Regent's University students and staff.
Sir Nigel Sheinwald GCMG: former British Ambassador to the United States and UK Permanent Representative in Brussels and now a non-executive director of Royal Dutch Shell
Sanford Henry: Visiting Fellow, US Programme, Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), and Managing Director Asset Solutions, Senior Advisor, Connexion Capital, Partner Bosphorus Group
Professor John Drew, Chancellor, and Director of iCES will chair the event.
The recently (updated paper) written by the Senior European Experts: The EU-US Trade Talks: A Transatlantic Partnership in the Making? will be available to participants.
The Seminar will be followed by a drinks reception from 7pm.
Numbers are limited for this seminar. Please book early to secure your place.
