Capturing the ephemeral: Tales from the edge of gender science

Capturing the ephemeral: Tales from the edge of gender science

Professor Christina Richards
Visiting Professor of Gender and Mental Health

Gender and sexuality permeate human cultures across time. Professor
Richards explores these fundamental concepts and the reality of lived
human experience, especially in the lives of people who venture outside
of the expectations given to them at birth: trans and non-binary people.
What are the practical realities for people with fluid sexuality from
current scientific, clinical and philosophical perspectives, and what
clarity can be found in these contested areas?

Professor Christina Richards is Visiting Professor of Gender and
Mental Health at Regent’s School of Psychotherapy & Psychology.
She is Lead Consultant Psychologist, Head of Psychology and
Head of Research at the London Gender Identity Clinic (Tavistock
and Portman NHS Foundation Trust). Professor Richards lectures
and publishes internationally on gender, sexualities and critical
mental health. She is Editor-in-Chief of the journal of the British
Psychological Society’s Division of Counselling Psychology:
Counselling Psychology Review.
