One week to go until Regent’s Graduate Shows 2019! #TBT to the amazing showcase from last years event at the @trumanbrewery #London
This time next week we will be announcing our competition winners of 2018/19! Meet two of our acting competitors Wambui and Marcelina ————————————————————————
▪️Name: Wambui
▪️School: Sacred Heart High School 🇬🇧 ▪️What are you passionate about: I believe in pushing what the Arts can do. That a performance's impact and life can last further and longer than just it run. To see just how many ripples it can cause in the world that surrounds us and then beyond that..
And I believe audiences should be as diverse as possible. Diverse in all the ways humans can be. People should see themselves onstage, and creatives should see themselves in the audience-that way no one ever forgets that its meant to be a connection. But also, that everyone should enjoy themselves. For the audience to be entertained. And for the creatives to be excited by what they're doing and spurred on by their audiences.
▪️What inspired you to create your piece: I saw a production of Othello at a local theatre. From that, I decided that I wanted to give playing Iago myself a whirl. This was a good opportunity to perform the character. I understood being a young black female, I am not necessarily who one would naturally cast as Iago. But while race is a prevalent theme in Othello, I believed the character of Iago to be consumed by other matter more utterly. With that in mind ,I thought that I could still attempt to play Iago, and strive to play him well. ————————————————————————
▪️Name: Marcelina
▪️School: International School Hannover Region 🇩🇪 ▪️What are you passionate about? Basketball, art (Performance art, visual arts), photography, design
▪️What inspired you to create your piece? As I participated in last years My Shakespear acting competition, I wanted to go again and do better. I Chose this Piece, because I watched a german Version of Macbeth in a Theater. I thought iot was very interesting, though brutal. It grabed my Attention into further Research and inspired me to become Lady Macbeth.

The countdown is on for Regent’s 2018/19 Competition winners to be announced! Regent's Competitions is open to pre-degree students in schools and colleges around the world. Get to know Leal and Busenur, two of this year’s Future Fashion competitors 👇 ————————————
▪️Name: Busenur
▪️School: Ted Rönesans College, Turkey 🇹🇷 ▪️What you are passionate about:
1️⃣ Animal Rights
2️⃣ Queer Culture & Fashion
3️⃣ Comic illustration and painting
4️⃣ Giving back to the world and people.
▪️What inspired you to create your piece: I was inspired by the‘Extinction Rebellion’ movement which is an international social movement that aims to drive radical change, through nonviolent resistance, in order to avert climate breakdown and minimize the risk of human & animal extinction and ecological collapse.
▪️Why did you enter Regent’s Competitions? I entered the competition because I thought that it was a unique platform for me to truly express the things that I’m passionate about.
▪️Name: Leal
▪️School: Hisar School, Istanbul 🇹🇷
▪️What you are passionate about:
Art, drawing & painting. I also enjoy writing comic books and other
forms of literature.
▪️What inspired you to create your piece: My inspiration behind this piece was minimalist but functional future and people striving to
discover more of space. Before entering this competition I often found myself intrigued by space
and cosmas and nasa’s attempt on exploring Mars. I have visited NASA’s headquarters, that really left an impact on me.
▪️Why did you enter Regent’s Competitions?
It was a motivation for me to finally not just design a piece but also prepare it and see it come to life. The “future fashion” theme was also a great motivation
since I enjoy fantasy and science fiction genres. #fashion #competitions #london #highereducation
