For Jennifer Valle, an MA at Regent's was a chance to learn about entrepreneurship and develop her language skills while making the most of being based in central London. The American plans to use her new skills, experience and connections to found a business in the wellness industry.

Nationality: American
Programme: MA Management with Pathways: Entrepreneurial Management Pathway

I wanted to study at a university in London with the option of a January start date. Regent’s offered a welcoming environment in the middle of a bustling city, and I was impressed by the variety of challenging but practical courses.

I was looking for a course in entrepreneurship, and Regent’s was one of a few universities in London that offered an MA in Entrepreneurial Management. The programme provided an opportunity to take a language course plus a wide range of electives. I also wanted to learn how to create a business plan properly and learn more about entrepreneurial finance – which the course includes. The programme has given me some practical tools to apply to real-life scenarios, and I’ve gained a new perspective on my future business plans.

I love that the option to take a language was offered as an elective for my course. I haven’t studied a language since my undergraduate degree and, while it’s been challenging, I’ve really enjoyed the class and believe the knowledge will be helpful in my future career.

I’ve also really enjoyed the setting at the Regent’s Park campus. It’s conveniently located and all my classes are held at one location. The facilities are great for studying and socialising. Studying in London, we are lucky to have so much available to us right outside our doorstep – history, culture, restaurants, entertainment and an international community. As a student, I view London with a new perspective and I’m eager to make the most of my time here.

In many of my classes, no two students are from the same country, which makes for a really interesting class dynamic. I’m learning a lot just from my peers’ and teachers’ personal backgrounds and experiences, and making friends from all over the world.

I’m currently enrolled in Regent’s mentoring programme and really enjoying it so far. I’ve been paired with a very supportive mentor who has a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has challenged me to complete a few assignments that are in line with my future career goals, and the process has been extremely helpful. I find this service of huge value to students.

In the future, I would like to open my own business in the health and wellness industry. I believe I’m getting the experience and learning the appropriate skills at Regent’s to be able to do so. I hope to make even more connections at Regent’s and in London throughout the year.
