After visiting the campus, Max knew that the smaller university environment was right for him. He found the teaching staff approachable and the dynamic on campus unique.
Programme: BA (Hons) International Business with Spanish
I was attracted to the International Business programme because it allows for the study of one or two languages. Languages and cultural awareness is key to conducting International business in today’s environment. In my foundation semester I took the opportunity to study Japanese and Japanese customs in business. In my Bachelors I’ve studied Spanish and I’ve been able to study and work abroad for one year.
After having looked at the course structure online and the modules I’d be taking I knew that the programme would provide the core business subjects I needed and provide the added value of specific electives in Finance I wanted.
When I leave Regent’s I will have a new sense of cultural intelligence and awareness. I’ve gained this from meeting and networking with students of different backgrounds in the classroom, at social events and on offsite exercises.
In my year abroad I worked for four months in an accelerator in Valencia, Spain. I had the opportunity to work with start-ups at different points in their business cycles. By doing so my Spanish improved a lot, and I am now helping the company expand its operations into the UK part-time from London.
I undertook my study abroad period in Madrid, Spain at CUNEF University. I studied corporate finance and economics in Spanish. I enjoyed discovering a new city and making new friends and contacts whilst abroad. A former exchange student whom I had met whilst on his exchange at Regent’s welcomed me in Madrid. I’ve since enjoyed welcoming incoming exchange students at Regent’s from Spain, as I’m now more familiar with the Spanish language and culture.
I’ve enjoyed taking part in the wide range of events that take place on campus, from society-led events, guest speakers and career fairs. I’ve found it valuable to spend time outside of the classroom with my peers and engage in debates and discussions on the economy, entrepreneurship, self-development and business.
The Careers & Business Relations door is always open. The team has been very helpful in providing feedback on my CV, helping in a mock interview scenario and pointing out potential job opportunities tailored to me.
London is a global hub for the arts and sciences, business and world affairs. Being in London has allowed me to discover how it is to live in a large metropolitan environment and also gain exposure to a wide range of businesses from retail, art banking or tourism.
