Alumna Nusrat Kamal, who graduated from Regent's having studied MBA, is now supplying UK retailers with ready-made garments manufactured in Asia.
What are you working on at the moment?
I have started a wholesale garment manufacturing business whereby I supply UK retailers with ready-made garments manufactured in Asia.
Tell us about your journey from graduation to where you are now.
The purpose of my MBA was to set up my own business in the fashion industry. After graduation, with past work experience in the industry, I started my clothing manufacturing business. I have already completed my first order for a leading clothing retailer in the UK and am progressing with other retailers to obtain more orders.
What are your plans for the future?
I hope to expand my operation, reach out to bigger retailers and obtain bigger quantity orders.
How did your studies at Regent’s impact on you professionally and/or personally?
Regent’s has provided the strong foundation and knowledge that has helped me to successfully run my business.
What is your funniest/fondest/best memory of Regent’s?
My best memory of Regent's was participating in a group project where we had to blindfold our team partners and guide them around the university garden by use of verbal communication only in order to reach the finish line.
What advice would you give to recent graduates starting out in their careers?
I would highly emphasise the importance of networking. Networking has played a very significant role in my business journey and my advice to recent graduates would be to join as many relevant organisations as possible and attend events and conferences. They should also do a thorough research of the market before starting their business and know their target market and USP in order to gain an advantage over their competitors.
What three words best describe the experience that Regent’s provides?
Empowered, enlightened and informed.
