In the wake of the tragic events in Brussels, we offer our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the attacks.
We are advising all of our students and staff to remain vigilant in line with UK Government advice regarding the threat of terrorism in Europe. The UK Government advice remains unchanged and the threat level of terrorism within the UK has remained unchanged since August 2014. We remain in contact with the UK security services and review our advice to students in the light of any changes in advice. To date, there has been no change. For advice on the UK security situation, the Government’s website on terrorism and national emergencies is https://www.gov.uk/terrorism-national-emergency.
We always complete a risk assessment before any University-sponsored student trips in Europe or within the UK and we will continue to do so, taking due regard of the security situation at any specific destination. For students travelling into Europe independently, we would strongly recommend they consult the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advice website at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
