Panel Speakers: Alex Murdock, Jonathan Jewell, and Lane Bednash
Alex Murdock is Professor of Not for Profit Management & Leadership and Director of the Centre for Government & Charity Management at London South Bank University, London. His research and academic interests include: Social Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurship (Co- ordinator of LSBU engagement in Social Enterprise Cluster, ESRC Third Sector Research Centre), Stakeholders and partnership in Public and NFP Sector, and the management & evaluation of public and NFP services, amongst others. In addi tion, Alex is also a trustee of Diocesan Welcare, a Charity formed from the merger of 12 Christian Charities operating in London and Surrey providing a range of services to single parents. A main board trustee, Alex is heavily involved in strategy and governance issues and was closely involved in merger.
Jonathan Jewell is Executive Chair is Executive Chair of Chargé de mission Limited, London. He specialises in recovery and renewal consultancy to the Third Sector, charities, independents, not-f or-profits and professional organizations. Assisting organi zations in delivering on their objects and achieving excellence. Currently Third Sector Ambassador to the Charter ed Management Institute, working with the British Medical Association as Associate Consultant and the Royal College of Surgeons as Innovation and Development Advisor. In addition, Jonathan is also lecturer at Birkbeck College, University of London where he has been involved in the development of programme and face-to-face/blended teaching and assessment of pharmacy students in relation to continuous professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning (LLL). Jonathan is also a trustee of The Evelina Family Trust, Relate and Umbrella.
Lane Bednash is Director of Valentine Recovery Limited and has been a licensed Insolvency Practitioner since 1999. Lane is a Fellow of the following profession al bodies: of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Engl and and Wales, the Insolvency Practitioners Association, and the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, He has wide practical experience in the charities sector: as former Chair of Relate North London, and currently as Chair of Habad – a charity established in 1954 which raises funds for children with special needs. He is also Event co- ordinator for Gauchers Association. Lane's interest include: Motor racing (as a participant!); Motorcycling; THFC; Suduko, Crosswords and Backgammon.
Mikko I Arevuo A senior lecturer is strategic management at Regent's College, Mikko has worked in international corporate and investment banking in the USA, Europe, as well as in EU funded economic reconstruction proj ects in the former Soviet Union. His research interests are in managerial cognition, strategy-as-practice and dynam ic capabilities. Mikko is conducting doctoral research at Cranfield School of Management on how causal cognitive maps are developed and used to influence the outcome and quality of strategic decisions in organizations. An active participant in the UK Government sponsored Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, Mikko is also a frequent contributor to business practitioner journals on managerial cognition and organisational learning. All Networking Meetings organised by the Regent’s Business Forum have been formally accredited for CPD credits/hours.
