Experience economy is distinctive from service economy, focusing on the way consumers enjoy their experience rather than the product or service itself. 

This course explores the rise, viability and impact of the events and experience industry and gives you the practical skills needed to understand, and act upon, the demands and challenges of creating and managing bespoke experiences in global markets. 

Building on a strong business management foundation, you’ll learn how to conceptualise and plan events while handling all aspects of the management process, including venue selection, operations, logistics, design, marketing and health & safety. You’ll also learn to work with the unique demands, needs and challenges of your clientele while exploring how your decisions can influence consumers, stakeholders, partners, employees and shareholders. 

Adopt a luxury angle and enhance consumer experiences by making use of technology, storytelling and targeted content – profiling customers and implementing creative campaigns using AI, big data and social media. 

Practical, experience-based simulations and challenges with industry experts will expose you to real-world business issues and give you the strategic skills to combat them. 

You’ll have the option to undertake an independent placement or enterprise project to gain further industry experience, or you can study abroad for a term at one of Regent’s international partners to broaden your understanding of management and enterprise in a global context. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn a new language – preparing you to work in an international arena. 

A global perspective is a core aspect. Learning about other cultures and interacting with students from all over the world will prepare you to work in the global business arena. You will also have the opportunity to learn a new language.  

This degree will train you as an innovative experience manager, who is able to create bespoke events that meet the unique demands and needs of your clientele.

This course combines a common set of core business management modules with specialist modules related to this course and a choice of electives. 

If you begin your studies in September, you will undertake a three-year, full-time programme.

If you join us in January, you will undertake an accelerated two-and-a-half-year version of the course. This accelerated course will see you complete a spring and summer term in your first year, and join the September cohort for the beginning of your second year in the autumn term.

Year 1

Module Title Overview
Analytical Tools for Business and Finance This module aims to enhance your employability by teaching key numerical techniques and IT tools applicable to business, finance and management. Through reflection and technological application, you will learn how to generate new ideas and identify opportunities to innovate business solutions.
Developing Tomorrow’s Global Leaders This module is designed to help you to understand and embody the roles, responsibilities and traits of a true leader. Your main task will be to work together with your peers to support a charity and achieve mutually agreed objectives. Activities could include resolving a unique business problem, raising awareness for the charity, and fundraising. This challenge enables you to take on leadership responsibilities within a real-life business context. You will also be expected to critically reflect on your performance to understand and improve your management and leadership techniques. Working with students from different cultures and nationalities will also give you the intercultural intelligence to work successfully across international boundaries and become a true global leader.
Economics for Business This module focuses on both the micro- and macroeconomic environment in which businesses operate. You will gain a solid understanding of key economic concepts and their implications. This knowledge will help you to identify potential challenges that arise from globalisation and make smart business decisions to overcome them.
Exploring the Fundamentals of Experience Economy This module will give you an insight into events and experience economy, from its origin and current status to future developments. You will examine the theories of this economy and its implications for business strategies. Looking at a range of experiences such as hospitality, tourism and sporting events, you will learn about the different approaches to experience management. You will also explore the role of entrepreneurship in the experience economy and the potential challenges that arise from cultural, social and economic changes.
Financial and Management Accounting This introductory module focuses on financial and management accounting, with particular reference to external and internal reporting. You will learn how to make informed business decisions and communicate overall performance using key financial statements. You will also gain an understanding of the key regulations applicable to financial accounting, as well as the nature and cost implications of business decision-making. This module will give you the techniques required to prepare financial statements and formulate your own simulated business plan.
Global Perspectives This is a University-wide common module, which facilitates interpersonal, intercultural and cross-disciplinary learning for all level 4 students enrolled on Regent’s validated degree programmes. The module introduces a range of ideas and ways of thinking based around the University’s values, reflected in its learning outcomes. It encourages students to interact with the broader University community, both socially and academically, asking them to cross the physical and intellectual borders of their degree programmes. Global Perspectives aims to increase self-awareness and prepares students for their subsequent studies by familiarising them with the resources available to meet their lifelong learning needs.

Integrated Business Skills This module will help you develop key transferrable skills that can be used in both academic and workplace environments. Collaborative work will teach you how to work effectively in teams and strengthen your leadership skills. Presentation training will also help become a more confident and impactful speaker. The module will directly relate to the activities and assessment of two other level 4 modules: ‘People-Centric Organisations’ and ‘Principles of Marketing in the Digital Era’.

People-Centric Organisations This module focuses on the key issues associated with people in organisations. You will learn how to handle the employer-employee relationship effectively and implement creative strategies to ensure a better working environment. You will cover a range of disciplines including management, organisational behaviour and human resource management. This training will help you identify organisational challenges and give you the management tools to overcome them.
Principles of Marketing in the Digital Era This module will introduce you to the core principles of marketing. Critical examination of business models will give you real life insight into contemporary marketing issues and challenges such as big data, social media, sustainability and globalisation. You will learn the latest marketing practices, paying close attention to the different ways in which technology is used to improve customer relations.

Year 2

Module Title Overview
Business Law Business Law focuses on the fundamental principles of law relating to business transactions, commercial entities and consumer rights. You will examine different types of business organisations and the legal consequences of incorporation. A significant part of the module will focus on contract law and the various aspects of a contractual relationship. Applying legal principles to a variety of different business scenarios will help you understand the legal implications of entrepreneurship and business activity. Upon successful completion, you will have a solid understanding of the legal issues and complexities that exist within a business environment.
Experiential Marketing New and emerging technologies are causing a significant impact on the way companies market their brand and respond to customer demands. This module will focus on how brands manage and enhance the customer experience by making an effective use of technology, storytelling and targeted content. It aims to highlight key management principles and challenges in the sensory, emotional and experiential marketing and events industry. You will learn how to implement experiential marketing campaigns and live sustainable events using artificial Intelligence applications including chatbots, virtual and augmented reality, big data and social media. You will also explore the impact of these new experiential marketing technologies and the challenges that arise from globalisation and social, economic and political changes. This module will give you the key skills to deliver successful experiential marketing campaigns and events that match brand experiences to brand promises.
International Destination Management This module explores the core principles and practices of international destination management and marketing. Using your analytical skills, you will critically assess and evaluate destination management strategies. This knowledge will help you understand and analyse the growing importance of international destination management to national and international economies. You will also learn about the planning, implementation and management aspects of meetings, conferences, exhibitions and incentive travel programmes within an international destination context. This module will also help you to identify the impact of global changes such as technological, social, geopolitical and economic change.
Managing Events and Experience This module focuses on the principles and practices of events management and the use of events as experiential opportunities. You will learn how to conceptualise and plan an event, from concept through to implementation. You will be expected to consider all aspects of event management such as experience design, venue selection, event operation and marketing, health and safety, as well as ethical aspects of the event. The knowledge and skills you will develop in this module is vital preparation for your capstone module in Year 3.
Optimising Operations and Change Organisations must continuously transform their operational processes in order to sustain growth and compete in the 21st century landscape. Looking at the drivers and causes of organisational transformation, you will learn how to diagnose the need and readiness for organisational change. This training will develop you into an effective change leader with the insight and skills to identify potential opportunities and implement new operational processes. You will also build an awareness of the changing global environment and its implications for organisations.
Research Methods This module will teach you how to conduct independent research for both academic and professional purposes. You will learn the theoretical frameworks of the research process, together with practical insights. You will apply this knowledge to a number of different business situations and contexts, gaining an awareness of the complexities of international research studies. You will also examine current debates in business research, such as the extent to which big data will replace more traditional data collection methods.
Sustainability Current challenges such as population growth and the widening gap between nations, concerns over water, food and energy security, and the fast-paced environmental changes have become key issues for many organisations. This module focuses on the meaning and scope of sustainability, from both a business perspective and from wider societal and environmental contexts. You will develop an awareness of current national and international regulatory policies regarding sustainability and corporate responsibility. Engaging with analytical research, you will learn how to assess the challenges and opportunities for businesses and construct innovative strategies to champion sustainability.

Year 2 Elective Pathway Modules

Module Title Overview
Leading with Cultural Intelligence Cultural intelligence and intercultural competence have been identified as key skills for future global leaders. This module focuses on the development of self and others. You will engage in peer-mentoring activities, including mentoring an exchange student. Sharing experiences and helping support them as they navigate the challenges of living, studying and working in a foreign country will help you reflect on your own identity as a future global leader. The mentoring will take place online via Skype, Blackboard Collaborate or in person.
Logistics Experience Management Managing the operational performance of supply chains is an increasingly significant task that enhances the customer experience as well as the sustainability of an organisation. This module will give you the core skills to manage and leverage logistical operations. You will assess a range of logistical frameworks, analyse strategic advantages to leveraging logistics, and evaluate approaches to managing inventory. You will also learn how to design effective logistics frameworks to manage the internal and external challenges of logistics experience management.
Luxury Brand Management This module focuses on the luxury goods industry and the different marketing approaches that are used to create value for global clients. You will look at how luxury brands deliver concepts that secure brand loyalty and consistently deliver experiences for new and existing target audiences. You will also explore the disruption in luxury branding, the challenges that existing global players face and the emerging trend for inclusivity. You will also gain an understanding of the impact of global forces on luxury organisations such as legal systems and ethical, social, economic and technological changes.

Year 3

Module Title Overview
Events and Experience Management Pathway Capstone The Capstone module is the summative module that brings together all the knowledge and skills that you have gained on your pathway in a practical project. You will approach a current events and experience-related issue and use a range of management concepts, tools and frameworks to resolve it. This project will teach you how to formulate research questions and hypotheses, analyse data sources and identify appropriate methodologies. It will also enhance your awareness of the importance of ethics, ethical consumption and sustainability within the industry.
Event Studies and the Future of Events This module considers the theory and practice of events management. You will cover topics including event design, planned versus unplanned events, strategic event planning, the economics of events and public policy. This knowledge will enable you to make informed event management decisions based on theoretical modules and concepts.
Innovations in Events and Experience This module enhances your knowledge of professional practice, giving you the skills to deal with experience management issues. You will have the option to work on a real-life industry scenario or plan an experience through an event. Practical application will teach you how to use theoretical concepts to resolve problems in practice. This module will expand your knowledge of the principles of innovative approaches, enterprises and ethical considerations that are present within the industry.
Strategic Analysis Strategy can be seen as having two main schools – the ‘market-based school’ and ‘resource-based school’. This module explores both perspectives, giving you the knowledge and skills to create an appropriate ‘strategic fit’ for a given organisation. You will learn how to use a range of strategic tools and techniques that are used across many business contexts and organisations. You will explore how organisations analyse their context both externally (environment, industry/market etc.) as well as internally (culture, structure etc.). By the end of the module, you will be able to combine insights from a range of techniques to give a multi-faceted view of the organisation.

Independent Learning Project The independent learning project is designed to allow you the time and resource to pursue your own learning and research into a topic of your choice. The aim of the ILP is to enable you to critically explore, analyse, and evaluate a specific contemporary phenomenon of the fourth industrial revolution on an organisation within a business management, technological, political, economic, social and/or cultural context, and to develop your aptitude for independent research and analysis.
International Brand Strategy What makes a brand appealing? In this module, you will learn to effectively build, manage, and strategically position brands, and recommend potential overall and specific branding direction for businesses. You will discover the rational and emotional drivers which cause a brand to be appealing, or not appealing, for relevant target audiences anywhere in the world. By the end of this module, you will have developed your core skills in specialised marketing as well as broadened your knowledge of marketing in an international context.
International HRM This module is designed to address many of the key aspects involved in attracting, retaining, and developing people in a global context for achieving and retaining competitive advantage of the organisation. Drawing on a wide range of theories and insightful global real-life case studies, this module provides a real-world understanding of the key debates and practices around human resource management in an international business context. This module will also develop your ability to operate in a team, delivering both written and oral presentations.
Planning a New International Venture This module will allow you to experience the creation of a business plan. The technological age has enabled small and medium-sized enterprises and family businesses to compete effectively with larger organisations. Understanding the ways in which a new business can achieve success on the global stage in the modern day is a core principle of entrepreneurship. As such, this module will see you investigating and researching various aspects of a potential new venture and working alongside others to bring your concept to light.
Project Management for Enterprise Many major projects fail to deliver on time and to budget, leading to delays and losses that can be avoided by proper planning. This module develops your understanding of the underpinning principles of good project management. You will learn how to use Microsoft Project software to manage tasks and resources and to project monitor in order to avoid scheduling conflicts. This will enhance your project management skills and teach you how to balance between controlling organisational costs and risks while also maintaining quality.

If you have not uploaded the relevant supporting documents during the online application process, you should ensure that we have the below supporting documents as soon as you have completed your application. These can be sent to the Regent’s Admissions Department via email to [email protected].

  • Copies of academic transcripts and certificates from all previous studies (i.e. secondary school and/or university certificates)
  • One academic letter of recommendation
  • A 300-500 word personal statement outlining the reasons for applying to your chosen programme, how you feel you will benefit from the programme of study, what contributions you will make to the University and how this will help your future career aspirations.
  • A copy of your passport photograph (ID) page
  • If you are not a native English speaker, proof of your English proficiency

Credit Transfer

  • If you’ve already studied part of a degree course elsewhere, you may be able apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and join the programme at an advanced entry point. If you’d like to request entry part-way through a programme, make sure you state this clearly in your statement of purpose and provide us with the transcripts and module descriptions for the relevant study.

Step 2: Receive a response to your application

You can expect to receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of receipt of your completed application and supporting documents.

We will assess whether you meet our entry requirements and will notify you of the decision via email. UCAS applicants will also receive official notification via the UCAS system.

For some of our programmes, the selection process may include an interview or audition. Interviews/auditions can take the form of a one-to-one interview, group interview or portfolio review which may be conducted by telephone or as a Skype call. Arrangements of these are made between the Admissions Department and the applicant.

Step 3: Accepting your offer

If you wish to accept the offer, please pay the advance tuition fee deposit (non-refundable) to confirm your place.

Closer to the start of the term, the Admissions Team will send information regarding the registration process. This will include information on completing your online enrolment prior to your arrival as well as a checklist of documents you will need to bring with you to fully register onto the programme.

What do fees include?

Fees cover the cost of all tuition and access to the University’s IT infrastructure and library learning resources.

What other costs should I budget for?

You will need to budget additional funds for accommodation and living expenses, travel, and any additional trips, visits, activities or courses (such as summer programmes) that you choose to participate in outside of the tuition offered as part of the programme.

The library hold a limited number of copies of core text books and where possible in e-format. You will be encouraged to purchase your own text books and will need to budget approximately £80-£100 per year, depending on your programme of study.

When are fees paid?

Fees are payable in the following instalments:

  • An initial non-refundable advance deposit paid when you accept your offer of a place
  • The advance deposit is allocated against the first term’s fees
  • Tuition fees (including fees for subsequent terms) are due two weeks in advance of classes commencing

Calculating fee increases

  • The University sets tuition fees on an annual basis in line with the University's financial year which runs from 1 August to 31 July
  • The fees quoted here are for one academic year of study commencing in September
  • Fees for subsequent years of study are subject to fee inflation
  • The University aims to keep annual fee increases in line with the University’s cost inflation. The expectation is that this will be no greater than UK consumer price inflation (CPI) plus 3%. There are occasionally variations to this dictated by the costs of running specific programmes or facilities required for our programmes
  • All fee increases are subject to approval of the Trustee Board thus ensuring that affordability for our students remains a primary concern in any decisions regarding fee increases

Study Period Abroad (SPA)

Some programmes at Regent’s University London offer an optional or mandatory Study Period Abroad, for one or two semesters. No SPA can be undertaken in the United States.
A student who wishes to attend an “ineligible” school, which includes any school in the USA, will forfeit all funding from that semester going forward and all current loans will become due with immediate effect. Teaching staff

Our teaching staff represent a diverse range of professional and academic backgrounds, with a large percentage having extensive industry experience. Many are research-active and regularly publish in respected academic journals and at conferences. We are very proud of the global nature of our programme, and our lecturers also reflect this ethos, coming from a wide variety of countries and cultures across the world. In every way, you will feel part of a genuine global family.

We provide a focused and personal treatment of our students as they progress through the programme. We ensure that students enjoy open lines of communication with lecturers and heads of programme alike.

All our staff hold postgraduate qualifications in their subject area, and a large section hold PhDs or are studying for one. In addition, most of our staff are holding the Fellowship of Higher Education Academy (HEA) from Fellow to Principal Fellow. We also encourage our teaching staff to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

A Regent’s education provides you with a high level of personal attention, and this begins from the moment you apply to study with us. We want to understand who you are and what your skills and interests may be – we are interested in your potential, as well as your prior achievements. We review each application comprehensively and on its individual merit, considering all of your skills, interests and attributes.

Minimum entry requirements for Level 4 students

One of the following qualifications:

  • Three GCE A-levels at grade A-C
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 PLUS one of the following:
    - Three AP tests with an average grade of 3 or two AP tests with an average grade of 4
    - Three SAT II (Subject Tests) with a minimum score of 500 in each section or two SAT II with a minimum score of 600 in each section
    - SAT I (Reasoning Tests) with a minimum score of 1800 (600 in each section)
    - ACT with a composite score of 26 (20 in each section)
    - Dual Enrolment and College credits (1st Year) - 30 credits with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Equivalent qualifications as deemed acceptable by the University

For Business & Management, Liberal Studies (Business & Management) and BSc Psychology courses, there is also a minimum maths requirement through one of the following qualifications (or equivalent):

English Language requirements

English is our language of instruction and we require proof of your English proficiency. 
You can demonstrate your English proficiency with:

  • IELTS: Overall score of 6.0 with no score below 5.5 in any of the four components
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 58, with 51 or above in each individual component
  • TOEFL IBT: Overall score 80. (We do not accept TOEFL from applicants requiring a Tier 4 visa, as this qualification is no longer accepted by the UK Visas and Immigration Department (UKVI)
  • A-level/GCSE/IGCSE English: Grade C / 4 or above (for IGCSE certificates, please provide the Supplementary Certifying Statement with the breakdown of component grades)
  • International Baccalaureate: Grade 4 or above in English at Higher or Standard Level

Regent's English Proficiency Test (REPT)

We provide an online English diagnostic test known as the Regent’s English Proficiency Test (REPT). This test must be booked in advance. To find out more information and to book a test, please visit the REPT page. The REPT test is currently free of charge.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

As a Regent’s student you will take an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) module in your first semester in order to support the development of your academic work in English.
Please note that students who achieve an IELTS 6.5, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component, or an equivalent result, are exempt from taking the EAP module and have an additional academic module.

Please note this module is no longer running effective from September 2021.

Students entering with Recognition of Prior Learning

If you are joining your programme at an advanced entry point, we require IELTS 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in Reading and Writing, with no score below 5.5 in any other components.
