Exam Preparatory Courses (for the Intermediate Certificate & Advanced Diploma) provide training in the skills assessed in the exam, and enable candidates to work with past papers to maximise their exam techniques.

Intermediate Certificate

  • Understand the main ideas of texts on various topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation
  • Interact with fluency and spontaneity making interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party
  • Ability to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken
  • Produce clear texts on a range of subjects, explain a viewpoint on a topical issue and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various options

Advanced Diploma

  • Understand easily demanding and extended texts (heard or read)
  • Summarise information from various spoken and written sources, reconstruct arguments in a coherent presentation
  • Ability to express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating shades of implicit meaning
  • Ability to use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes
  • Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices

Length

The course runs for eight consecutive weeks.

Classes are held every Thursday at 6.30 - 8.30 pm.

Prep Course Levels

We offer prep courses for both the two different examinations under offer; Intermediate Certificate and Advanced Diploma.

Intermediate Certificate: Independent User B1-B2   

Can understand the main ideas of texts on various topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with fluency and spontaneity making interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.

Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce clear texts on a range of subjects, explain a viewpoint on a topical issue and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Advanced Diploma: Proficient User C1-C2   

Can understand easily demanding and extended texts (heard or read). Can summarise information from various spoken and written sources, reconstruct arguments in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating shades of implicit meaning.

Can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

These courses are designed to prepare students for the Business Spanish Exam

In order to confirm that you are registering for a course appropriate to your level of competence; please write a ±400-word essay on one of these topics:

  • The relevance of Spanish to your professional life
  • Current affairs in Spain or Latin America
