Academic calendar

Academic Calendar

(Note that Semester 1 in Argentina is what we would consider to be Spring semester and Semester 2 is our Autumn semester)

Autumn Semester : early-August to mid-December

Spring Semester  : early-March to mid-July

Academic life

The principal method of instruction takes place in the form of lectures. Most modules are assessed based on one exam or paper counting as the only grade in the class. Some professors may also give midterm exams or papers. In general it is assumed that the student has no previous knowledge and you will therefore be required to work hard to obtain a good grade.

In general for each module UCEMA you should consider the following items:

- 2 exams
- 1 make up exam
- class participation
- coursework

Courses at UCEMA are graded on a ten-point scale. The maximum possible grade for a course is 10. The minimum passing grade is 4. Below 4, students simply receive a grade of 0 (failed).

In addition, students are required to maintain a point grade average of 6 in order to graduate from their program. Thus, 4 and 5 are considered marginal grades, and students can afford to receive them only exceptionally.

Moreover, you have to consider that to be able to take the final exam you should have a minimun of 80% attendance in classes. UCEMA is strict of its attendance policy.

If you don't have the % of attendance in classes, you will fail and get a 0 as a final note in your transcript.
