arts at Regent's

It’s an ever-changing and competitive world out there. If you want to make the most of it, then give yourself a wider outlook on life and career. Regent’s University’s renowned US-style Liberal Arts degree provides the flexibility to focus on a major area of study and pursue other subjects to diversify your education. You’ll be able to play to your strengths, while learning how to think creatively and analytically – all in the stunning environment of Regent’s parkland campus.

Our Liberal Studies Programmes

"Bringing the wide-ranging curriculum of US higher education to the UK"

Our Liberal Studies programme gives you the opportunity to explore the key areas of art, business, the humanities and the social sciences, as well as uncover the fundamentals of science and research. The programme enables you to major in a subject area of your choice, whilst taking a range of electives to tailor your degree to match your passions and interests; and you can also start your studies at Foundation level. We take the American model of higher education and combine it with the best of the British system.

There has never been a more opportune time to take a liberal approach to your studies. Students are often frustrated by the narrow focus of modern degrees, which are increasingly designed for the mass market. Employers claim that graduates are unprepared for the future, whilst the media report that many of today’s jobs could be redundant within five years. As a well-known columnist recently wrote in the Financial Times, arguing for a liberal curriculum, ‘Today it is less important to know, and more important to know what is known’.

Liberal Studies at Regent’s sets itself in opposition to the mainstream model of education, positioning itself as the degree of the future. It teaches you to think independently, make connections across disciplines, challenge conventional wisdom, and pursue your own ideas. Combining disciplines as diverse as mathematics, theatre, and music appreciation, this is the degree programme that graduates often wish they had studied at university. Whether you are destined for the arts, entrepreneurship, family business or academia, our programme gives you the framework and grounding to succeed.

Majors and Optional Foundations

Regent’s American College London

With our rich Anglo-American history, we believe that Regent's is the best place to study a liberal education in the UK – and perhaps the best in Europe. Some universities run equivalent programmes, but to the best of our knowledge ours is the only degree where all the modules have been designed for purpose. Beware: the term 'liberal studies' is sometimes misused to describe a degree programme that offers little more than a flexible structure. With our renowned culture of cosmopolitanism, with a curriculum that has been carefully refined over 20 years, Regent's is indeed 'the best kept secret in British higher education'.

Our Liberal Studies degree is a flagship programme that draws on the full range of Regent’s unique strengths.
