Dr Elias Boukrami

Professional Biography

Dr Elias Boukrami is the Head of Programmes’ portfolio of Finance, Energy and Trade. His portfolio of programmes includes the MSc Oil and Gas Trade Management a programme that he led during creation and successful development in 2014. More recently he led a team academic and professionals that validated the new MSc Finance and Investment with four specialism pathways, including Banking/Fintech, Wealth Management, Energy Trade and Financial Trading. His team under his leadership was awarded the 2014 Trustees’ Prize for Outstanding Service to Regents University London. In 2018 he won a double awards, one for the prize of Excellence in Teaching and Learning and one Prize of Leadership and Management during the 2018 Regent’s Annual Staff Conference. Dr Boukrami is the associate director of the Regent’s Transnational Centre for Business and Management (in charge of the Transnational Finance and Economics Group), where he contributed in raising a research grant of £14,750 from an external research funding.

Dr Boukrami is a Fellow member of the Higher Education Academy, a member of Energy Institute, a member of the Westminster Energy Forum and member of the Chartered Management Institute. Dr Boukrami holds a PhD in Empirical Finance where his area of research was financial derivatives and particularly swaps. His current research is the “Business Models Innovation” arena, he is interested in the causal effects of innovation on business models dynamics, particularly in the financial services sector. His research has been presented in the ISPIM 2018 (Boston) and JPIM 2019 (Orlando) innovation conferences, some of the research outcomes have already been published in international peer reviewed journal. He was invited to write a book chapter “Swaps” for Professors Kent Baker and Greg Filbeck in a best seller textbook “Investment Risk Management”. His books publications include also “The History of the Algerian Banking Industry, 1830 to 2010”, this title was edited by Mellen Press Publishing. Dr Boukrami a member of the editorial board of International Economic Letters and the International Journal of Islamic Marketing and Branding and Dr Boukrami acted also as book reviewer for Palgrave McMillan Publishers for a major Oil and Gas management textbook, in addition to his reviews of the Financial Services related conference papers for the Euromed Research Business Institute Conference.

His consultancy experience includes leading a consultancy project with a group of senior trading analysts at an international bank. Dr Boukrami acts an external examiner and advisor to a number of UK and international institutions such as Bristol Business School, University of Bradford and CIMA. Dr Boukrami has 3 PhD completions and acted as an examiner for several times. Dr Boukrami is a Visiting Professor at University of Lyon 3 IAE France and member of strategic advisory board for research appointed by the University President. He also appears regularly in the press and media (BBC, Banker Magazine, World Commerce Review). He also speaks regularly in the UKTI conferences promoting Regent’s and British higher education from a global perspective.
