Professional Biography

Dr Vincent Ong is an accomplished academic leader with more than 20 years of experience in postgraduate, undergraduate, and collaborative curriculum development, review, validation, and revalidation. Throughout his career, he has led and contributed to innovative pedagogy, student experience enhancement projects, international collaborative provisions and industry links, as well as conducting research in business intelligence and big data analytics for higher education. As a key member of the senior management team, he works closely with the Associate Provosts and key directors in strategic planning, development and implementation at the university. Currently, he is serving in the University's Quality Committee and Workload Allocation Model Governance Group. 

Dr Ong is also a Senior Fellow member of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). He has also served as External Examiner for other universities in business degree courses and PhD examination. 

Vincent's previous academic leadership background includes serving as the MBA Course Leader and Transnational Education (TNE) Link Tutor of BA (Hons) Business Management at the University of Bedfordshire, with a focus on locations in Hong Kong and Singapore. He was involved in related curriculum design, delivery, review, and validation.

His research and teaching pursuits centre around digital transformation, information systems, and the application of cutting-edge ICT, including business intelligence, big data, artificial intelligence. Vincent is passionate about leveraging these technologies for organisational and individual information processing, decision-making, and strategic planning.

Engaging in both independent and collaborative research endeavours, Vincent has actively participated in various projects and bidding activities at the university, national, and European levels. Notably, his last research project, funded by JISC's Business Intelligence Programme, focused on the implementation of an intelligent student engagement tracking system to enhance institutional decision-making in higher education.

Vincent has contributed significantly to research and scholarly activities, having published numerous journal papers, book chapters, and conference papers.
