Learn differently – postgraduate students

Programme details

We believe you learn best when you're actively involved, applying what you learn. Our postgraduate courses immerse you in hands-on experiences, equipping you to lead and innovate in fast-changing environments. Instead of traditional lectures, our classes are dynamic and collaborative, challenging you to take on projects with real clients, industry guests, businesses and brands.

Our curriculum is built around two building blocks:

  • Compulsory core modules
  • Optional elective modules

Your modules include

1. Core modules

Master the fundamentals of your discipline.

Learning from experts, you'll gain a deep understanding of your core discipline – developing the skills and expertise to make you an accomplished practitioner.

  • Learn from academics and industry leaders with years of experience
  • Gain practical experience: hands-on workshops, field trips, masterclasses
  • Dive into the latest academic thinking, informed by in-house research
  • Learn how to define, develop and communicate your professional identity

Through the lens of your subject area, you’ll undertake projects and challenges with leading businesses and brands – building your network, developing essential soft skills and gaining practical strategies for planning your future career. As you approach the end of your course, you'll also work on a final project – a creative pursuit, an academic idea, or a new business you’re ready to bring to life.

2. Elective modules

Broaden your thinking with a secondary specialism.

Elective modules are optional and complement your cores. They help you to see your subject from new angles, challenge your thinking in unexpected ways, and develop a broader outlook and skillset.

You’ll select a mix of:

  • Elective modules: from personal branding to cybersecurity and cross-cultural negotiation
  • Languages: learn a new language or develop your English skills

>> Explore all elective modules at the tab above. Availability may vary due to timetabling and practical considerations.

This structure ensures you graduate with deep subject knowledge, as well as a well-rounded skillset and real industry experience. With small class sizes and a personal approach to teaching, you'll always receive the attention, support and encouragement needed to achieve your goals and thrive – both at university and beyond.

Please note, not all Special Electives will be offered every term due to timetabling and other constraints.

Critical Thinking: A Path to Smarter Choices Learn the power and value of clear and concise critical thinking and how it affects decision-making and ethical reflection. This module will identify how logical reasoning and strong argumentation leads to success, both at the postgraduate level and in the world generally. This module will refine your critical thinking skills further by examining the tools of logical analysis, argument construction and evidence assessment. You'll study how theories or ideas are applied, or misapplied, in real world contexts, leading to widespread misperceptions, poor quality thinking habits, conspiracy theories and mistaken ethical reasoning. You'll learn how to avoid these errors and to work efficiently and effectively with others to generate logically sound decisions in challenging changing contexts, where there are multiple sources of evidence, diverse perspectives and divergent ethical positions.
Cybersecurity This module explores cybersecurity and addresses ‘cyber skills’ gaps in how security can (be made to) make sense. This is an interdisciplinary and naturally applied field that examines the behaviours, policies and practices around security systems in the context of online environments. This module is built on the foundations of cyberpsychology, digital anthropology and security studies. You may cover topics such as the managing of trust, security technologies, cybercrime, cultures of risk, the psychology of scamming, gaming behaviours, vulnerability and bias in security, crypto security and decentralisation, data hacking, data handling and legal frameworks, online safety and how these reflect in practice. You'll explore complex cyber security problems and solutions, and address the mindsets, legislations and societal challenges around the technologies of value (what's worth securing).
Exploring and Redefining Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a driving force in reshaping industries and sectors, promising substantial innovations and transformations. In this module, you'll understand the evolution and concepts of AI, from its inception to modern breakthroughs, and explore the current trends and applications of AI and its future trajectories. Central themes such as machine learning, neural networks, natural language processing and computer vision will be explored in detail, with an emphasis on both theoretical underpinnings and practical implementation. You'll also examine the economic, ethical, legal and societal dimensions of AI, enabling you to rethink and redefine AI for the common good. Through real-world case studies, hands-on interactive sessions, debates and discussion, you'll gain knowledge and practical experience in AI development, applications and governance. You do not require previous coding knowledge.
Leadership for positive change Leadership is not reserved solely for those in formal positions of power. This module reimagines leadership as a universal capacity and mindset accessible to everyone, regardless of their official role. It examines leadership across four key contexts – personal, team, organisational, and eco-system – emphasising creativity, emotional intelligence, resilience, and sustainability as core principles. Drawing on insights from art, business, philosophy, neuroscience, and future design thinking, you'll learn to navigate change, embrace uncertainty, and lead with vision, empathy, and kindness.

A key focus will be on leading without authority, exploring how to make a meaningful impact through your actions, ideas, and interpersonal skills. Through experiential learning, including a hands-on consultancy project, you'll gain practical tools and develop skills to tackle real-world challenges, learn from failure and turn setbacks into opportunities for growth, and seize everyday leadership moments. Whether you're addressing personal challenges, guiding team efforts, shaping organisational strategies, or impacting broader
eco-systems, you'll be empowered to lead confidently and contribute to a sustainable future.
Podcasting and Vlogging In this module, you'll discover how to use new technology to boost your creativity and entrepreneurial skills by creating broadcast-quality podcasts and vlogs. Through hands-on projects and case studies, you'll engage with different broadcast formats, learn how to connect with your audience to tell powerful stories. You'll build confidence using professional tools and software for recording, editing, and producing both audio and video content.
Personal Branding Personal Branding is about implementing a brand-centric strategic approach towards being in control of your professional image, identity and reputation. The objective is to become more intentional about how you present your uniqueness and value proposition in a cogent and compelling way, that both increases and amplifies your visibility. The aims are to increase your audiences and networks, offer greater opportunities, consolidate your position, validate your reputation, and leverage these in order to command a market premium.

In this module, you'll develop the skills to craft and communicate a compelling personal brand that reflects your strengths, values, and professional identity. Through deep reflection, you will uncover your unique qualities and goals in creating and articulating a distinctive value proposition. You'll learn to build a strong online presence, create content that highlights your expertise, and present yourself authentically to current and future employers. Additionally, you'll explore how to leverage your brand for social impact, align with meaningful causes, and connect with like-minded individuals. Practical exercises will help you to enhance your ability to present confidently in diverse contexts, boosting your career prospects, networking capabilities, and social influence in today’s competitive, interconnected world.
Luxury Experiences In this module you'll explore the practice and theory of luxury experience management and the design of exceptional luxury experiences. You'll examine concepts such as heritage, integrity, authenticity and sustainability as you critically examine luxury experiences and luxury consumption. You'll analyse the roles of emerging technologies and digital natives in prestige experiences, and the nature of the luxury consumer, as the younger generations start to dominate this innovative and dynamic market.

The module will equip you with the skills to integrate luxury experience design into business contexts, for example: hospitality, retail, luxury cars, fine wines, clothing, luxury bags and fine jewellery, tourism and the art market. With a focus on a market, where luxury experiences create lasting memories, you will gain a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges presented by this prestige market.
Cross-Cultural Negotiation Skills Negotiation is part of everyday life and is something that we practice unconsciously; it is the way we manage our relations with the people around us and deal with their interests and needs that are different from our own. Approaches to negotiation can differ significantly from person to person and from culture to culture. This stems from the expectations and perspectives of prospective clients or partners from highly diversified backgrounds. Indeed, negotiation can be negatively affected by misguided stereotypes.

This module gives you the chance to develop and practice the skill of negotiation in a range of cross-cultural contexts. To be successful in any kind of negotiation, you'll need to draw on a wide variety of resources and attributes, including familiarity with diverse cultures, awareness of the perceptual framework that your counterpart is using, behavioral and cognitive flexibility, cultural sensitivity, self-awareness, long-term strategic thinking and effective communication skills.
