Regent's Film & Screen students, recently received an online coaching session from industry professional and Managing Director of NextShoot, Dominic Sutherland.
After working as an award winning producer and director at the BBC, in the BBC History Unit, Dominic started his own production company founding NextShoot in 2009. With 25 years of industry expertise, Dominic is uniquely placed to offer Regent's students a real insight into working in the film industry and the different avenues they can explore.
During the session, Dominic was able to share his wisdom about building a career and he offered insights into the diverse and rewarding world of corporate film making. He encouraged the students to follow their passion and talked about how to build a network within the industry. He also went on to explain some of the vital skills they will need to advance their careers, including writing an engaging CV and how to make a speculative approach for a position.
The students were really inspired by talking to Dominic, and it has left them fired up and more prepared to tackle the world of filmmaking after they graduate this summer.
Some of the students who attended the session, commented: 'Dominic really showed us the possibilities out there and it is great to have this kind of expert information. It's so cool that Regent’s has links with real-life industry experts.'
Regent's Screen & Film courses allow students a unique exposure to industry professionals and a chance to build their network while studying. You can find out more about the BA Film and Screen courses here.
