Dr Neven Andjelic

Dr Neven Andjelic is an Assistant Professor in International Relations and Human Rights at Regent's University London. He served on the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities - Council of Europe from 2014 to 2018.

Dr Andjelic is also Visiting Professor at the University of Bologna and Visiting Senior Fellow at LSE. He previously taught at Birkbeck College, London, Open University and Bader International Studies Centre of the Queen's University (Kingston, Canada). He was also involved in advisory role with the King’s College London, LSE and UAL on an AHRC-funded project, Art and Reconciliation: Conflict, Culture and Community.

Additionally, Dr Andjelic was Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley and also taught at the University of Sarajevo.

Dr Andjelic has also had career in journalism. He has worked for CNN, BBC, ITN, Channel 4 in the UK and all the leading media in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Further to this, he has worked on research projects at the Universities of Sussex, Kent and a pilot-project at Oxford. He writes for academic journals and publications and has published a book titled Bosnia-Herzegovina: The End of a Legacy (2003). He also published several books in the languages of South Slavs. His academic interests are interdisciplinary with research expertise in the fields of international relations, nationalism, comparative politics, human rights and the media. The majority of his research focuses on Europe and the Balkans.

Dr Andjelic often provides his expertise in European affairs to governments, state agencies and international organisations. These include the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Ministry of Defence, UNICEF, Council of Europe and diplomats from various countries, among various others. He has also given talks to the US State Department and Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC.

He collaborates on several academic projects with institutions including King’s College London, LSE, UAL and abroad with University of Montenegro. He is also actively involved in politics in Bosnia-Herzegovina by trying to help setting up grass-root non-nationalist alternative to current political elites in the country.

Dr Andjelic is External Examiner in Erasmus Mundus MA Human Rights Policy and Practice at the University of Roehampton, London. He is also Examiner at University of Bologna, Italy, on the MA Masters programme in Interdisciplinary Research in Studies of Eastern Europe (MIREES).

Dr Andjelic often provides expertise to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UNICEF, Council of Europe and several other national and international organisations and agencies. He is interviewed on regular basis by the leading media in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia.
