Kim Kayser speaking at a Networking Society event

Building a direction with intention at Regent’s

MA Luxury Brand Management student, Kim Kayser, reflects on how a disciplined academic foundation and a clear, strategic mindset has shaped her approach to building a career in the luxury sector. With a focus on consistency, discretion, and long-term relationship building, she shares how Regent’s has supported her professional development and helped refine her direction.

Here’s Kim’s insight into her experience!

**

I have always been drawn to environments where high standards, focus, and long-term thinking are part of everyday life. This preference has shaped how I approach both my education and career. I like to build quietly, with consistency and intention, focusing on substance rather than noise. For me, progress comes from strong foundations, thoughtful decisions, and meaningful professional relationships.

Before joining Regent’s, I studied Molecular Biology. It gave me an analytical mindset and taught precision, discipline, and calm problem-solving. Working with complex systems and long-term processes has shaped how I now approach strategy, client experience, and career planning. While this background may seem far removed from my current studies, it has provided a strong foundation for my next steps.

Since starting the MA in Luxury Brand Management in September 2025, my direction has been clear. I am particularly interested in luxury strategy, private client environments, and consulting-led career paths. London offers a unique professional setting where trust, discretion, and quality matter, allowing me to learn close to industries where relationships and standards are central.

Engaging with the Careers team at Regent’s has helped me structure my thinking and refine how I communicate my goals, particularly through LinkedIn and professional outreach. Working with my Careers Consultant, Kate Faiz, made my career planning feel practical, focused, and manageable, while helping me identify relevant opportunities and ways to position myself intentionally.

Alongside my studies, I take a proactive approach to career development. I apply thoughtfully, attend industry events, and prioritise building long-term professional relationships based on trust and professionalism. I am also the president of the Regent’s Networking Society, which I founded to make professional development more accessible and collaborative. Leading this initiative has strengthened my leadership and organisational skills and shown me the value of curated professional communities.

My approach to growth is grounded in confidence. I see challenges as part of the process and view setbacks as opportunities to find a better fit. In client-focused and consulting-driven industries, consistency, discretion, and reliability build trust over time, and I aim to cultivate these through steady action.

My advice to other Regent’s students is to stay engaged. Speak to the Careers team regularly, seek objective input, and remain proactive. You don’t need to have everything figured out - what matters is approaching your career with purpose, openness, and consistency, allowing your direction to emerge through action.
