Many congratulations to all students who received a Certificate of Language Achievement at the Regent’s Languages Awards ceremony last week.
These certificates celebrate the commitment and progress of students who have studied a language for three, four, or more terms as part of their degree. Some began as complete beginners, while others built on prior knowledge - all are truly deserving achievers.

Amparo Lallana, Director of Languages, shared her reflections on this year’s achievements:
‘It is really encouraging to see more students qualifying for this award as they choose to continue their language learning term after term. Among the many interesting electives in our curriculum, studying a foreign language remains a strong, attractive choice for students.
Learning languages is not only brilliant for your CV and professional career - it improves your memory and recall, and as a global citizen it makes you more empathetic and adaptable, able to see the world from others’ perspectives.
To the awarded students, I say: You make me and the languages team proud. We are excited to see where your multiple languages will take you in your life and career.'
At Regent’s, all undergraduate students, and most postgraduates, can choose to study a language at any point in their degree. Whether starting from scratch or continuing from previous study, students can select from Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Russian or Spanish.
