Jessica St Onge, an MA User Experience Design (2026) graduate who now works as a Graphic Designer for Comic Relief, shares how her studies at Regent’s helped her connect classroom learning with real-world experience – supporting her career development and opening the door to future opportunities in the process.

An academically and personally rewarding experience
My time as a postgraduate student at Regent's was incredibly rewarding, both personally and academically.
It gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who shared my interests and passions, while learning from lecturers who had real, invaluable industry experience.
I grew so much during my time at Regent's, and I finished my degree with a stronger understanding of my field and a much clearer sense of my career direction.
A connected community
The community I met at Regent's made my course particularly special. Everyone I met brought different experiences, perspectives and ideas to the course, united by a shared interest in, and passion for, user experience design. It was incredibly inspiring.
My lecturers also played an important part in making my experience valuable. Their knowledge and industry experience helped me to look at my subject from different perspectives and connect classroom learning to the real world.
Luxury Lab: an experience I’ll carry into my career
The best opportunity I accessed at Regent’s was without a doubt The Luxury Lab.
In The Luxury Lab, Regent's pairs a group of students with a real business – in my case, Berry Bros & Rudd – allowing us to research the business and provide real recommendations to its core staff members.
This experience allowed me to apply what I learned through my course to a genuine business challenge, something which was particularly invaluable. My learnings extended beyond the classroom, showing me how the skills I was developing could apply in a real business setting, and presenting our recommendations to an established business was an experience I'll carry with me into my career.
Expert support from the Careers team
Alongside the small but impactful ways you'd expect the Careers team to help me secure my first job – such as providing CV, resume and interview advice – they did such a great job making me feel believed in and worthy of the roles I was applying for. When the field of available job opportunities feels wide and daunting in a city as big as London, it's so easy for imposter syndrome to creep in. The Careers team helped me to recognise my strengths and made me feel that I was genuinely capable and worthy of the roles I was applying for. This encouragement gave me the confidence to put myself forward for opportunities I might otherwise have doubted myself for – and ultimately helped me land a role that I absolutely love.
