Regent’s University London is pleased to announce that, as we launch LLB Law with our first student intake joining in September 2026, a new Head of School of Law will join the University in spring 2026.
Professor Luke Mason will join Regent’s on Monday 2 March 2026 as Head of School of Law, who will be responsible for strategic outcomes, teaching quality, and development and growth of this exciting new programme area.
The School of Law marks a momentous new chapter in Regent’s continued evolution, expanding our academic portfolio and strengthening our commitment to delivering a premium, globally minded education in the heart of London.
Professor Mason comes with a wealth of experience of leadership and innovation within legal education, most recently working with Westminster University as Head of Westminster Law School and Professor of Jurisprudence (for the past 4 years). During his time at Westminster, he oversaw the expansion and evolution of the Law School. He has also won a number of prizes, including the VC Prize for Education and Access to Justice Prize for Windrush Justice Clinic. Professor Mason’s expertise primarily spans legal philosophy, law and technology and labour law, and he has also worked extensively outside of academia, in areas ranging from policy to governance to art.
Prior to Westminster, Professor Mason worked as Professor of Jurisprudence and Head of School of Law at Birmingham University.
On joining Regent’s as Head of School of Law, Professor Mason said: ‘I am delighted to be joining an institution so strongly aligned with my own values, ambition and vision. I cannot wait to embark on building a School of Law for the future, help our students achieve their dreams and mould the legal thinkers of tomorrow.’
Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Fary Cachelin said: ‘I’m thrilled that Professor Mason is joining Regent’s as we take this exciting next step in our evolution as a university. He brings with him extensive and expansive knowledge and experience of Law in the Higher Education sector, as well as a commitment to enhancing and evolving the student experience and delivering a premium transformative education which is truly aligned with our strategic ambitions.'
We look forward to welcoming Professor Mason as he leads the new School of Law and helps shape its vision, identity, and impact for the years ahead.
