Vogue India features Regent's designer Riac Oseph

The Regent's alum has released a celebrated second collection and launched an e-store

Riac Oseph graduated from Regent's BA (Hons) Fashion Design in 2022 and has recently released his second collection, titled ADI. His pieces have been spotted on famous figures across the creative industries – from TikToker Victor Kunda and actress Bhumi Pednekar, to musicians like MNEK, Will Heard and Daniel Caesar.

In a Vogue India article published earlier this week, fashion journalist Thanaaz Hisham recounts the moment Riac Oseph won Fashion Industry Award at Regent’s University London back in 2022: "It was when he won [...] that one of the panel judges, Angela Quaintrell (a fashion consultant in high fashion retail), insisted he start selling.

"She asked me if I had finalized my budget calculations for producing the collection," Oseph stopped to laugh, thinking back at his response, "I said, ‘I know how much it cost me to make [just] this graduate collection?'""

This isn't the first time Riac's work has been featured in an industry magazine. Riac's graduate collection, inspired by hugs and 'unclecore', was featured in Fashionista in June 2022. In an interview with Kanika Talwar, Riac described his deep love for his time as a student.

"Regent's was great. That studio is and forever will be one of my favorite places on earth. The studio environment there is like no other." In the article, he reflected on how being in nature supported him to take on the challenges of creating a collecting, commenting that "fashion can be intense, but we laughed our way through the ups and downs every single day. Being in the heart of Regent's Park meant we had the most therapeutic surroundings to escape into."

It hasn't even been two years since Riac graduated from Regent's. Like classmates Gracey and Khudija, who launched fashion label DIJÁGO in 2022 and were recently awarded the Canada Goose HUMANATURE Award for Responsible Design as part of a London Fashion Week show, Riac's career is already accelerating towards success.

The truth is that Riac is still very close with the fashion community at Regent's. Riac told us: "I found myself as a designer working late nights in the Regent’s studio so it’ll always be special to me. Even for Adi, current 3rd year Jana assisted me in getting the collection ready so I feel like I haven’t really left!

He added: "my favourite memories at Regent's are the stressful months in the studio leading up to our graduate show, blasting music and cracking jokes with Krystel our technician and my close friends Khudija and Gracey. As stressful as it was, I feel we got to make some special memories and build genuine bonds during this time that are still strong."

We're all wondering, what's next after the success of ADI? Riac told us: "we’ve just launched our e-store coinciding with this piece [in Vogue India] and I am deep in prep for my next collection coming out in June. It’s been a crazy journey so far so I’m excited to see what’s next!"
