Regent's students attend Aesthetica Short Film Festival

Last month, a group of third year Film and Screen Production and Screenwriting and Producing students attended the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York – an international, BAFTA-qualifying event celebrating independent film from around the world.

Regent's was one of a select number of universities offered the opportunity to exhibit some of their graduation films at Aesthetica – giving students and alumni a platform to display their work early on in their careers.

As part of the event, alumna Cristina Rios Cisneros and Course Leader Tristan Tull gave a Q&A to a packed audience, including alumni Hannah Seligman and George Mills – whose own graduation film Everybody Needs Some (Dead) Body was showing at the festival this year.

After the showcase, students took part in teaching sessions, analysing the films they felt were most and least successful, before exploring the rest of the festival: watching as many films as possible, engaging in masterclasses and exchanging ideas at networking events.

This was a great opportunity for students to experience the buzz of a film festival before shooting their own final year films. We're looking forward to many success stories from this year’s inspiring cohort.
