Overview
Explore the challenges of global business in today’s fast-moving economy.
Examining case studies from a range of industries, you’ll gain a deep understanding of how international businesses thrive, exploring themes such as financial markets, economic policy, strategic planning, organisational culture and international trade – developing your ability to think creatively and sustainably across borders.

What to expect
Taking part in practical simulations, including launching a mock start-up, you’ll master how to build and scale businesses, keep track of finances, refine market positioning, analyse data and shape international growth strategies – addressing the threats and opportunities posed by technology, and developing sustainable responses to a range of environmental issues.
You'll learn how to classify markets, industries and cultures, developing insight into EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific), as well as emerging markets like BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey). You’ll begin to understand how they operate worldwide, including the logistics of running teams and trade across borders, and discover how they respond to unforeseen changes in economy, leadership and reputation.
Using recent case studies, you’ll also explore international law and intergovernmental bodies such as the European Union (EU) and World Trade Organisation (WTO).
International experience
In your second year, you’ll have the chance to learn a new language and spend one term studying abroad – practicing your skills on the ground while growing your global network. In your final year, you might also take an overseas trip with your class. Previously, students:
- Visited a mandarin farm in Morocco, run by a Regent's alum
- Explored innovations in farming, sustainability and technology
- Observed how different economies conduct their business
You’ll finish by completing a major project, exploring a topic that interests you. This could be a traditional dissertation, a business plan, or a growth strategy to enhance an existing business. No matter which you choose, you’ll gain insights into how businesses operate in different contexts and cultures – graduating with an agile, international, entrepreneurial mindset.
