Why Regent’s?
What to expect
Working practically in a creative workshop setting, you'll be guided through the art of pattern cutting, drape, garment construction, textile development, illustration and digital media, as you build a collection that embodies your personal philosophy and showcases your practical skills and design identity. During this time, you'll have access to:
- Professional design studios
- A dedicated technician five days a week
- Sewing and pressing workrooms
- Fabric library and workshop
- Mac and PC labs with industry software
- Professional photography studio
- Laser cutter, 3D printers, fabrication lab
- AutoCAD lab with plotter
Exploring the full creative production process, from ideation to promotion, you’ll develop your personal design identity, research skills and presentation techniques – and learn how to incorporate storytelling, branding and marketing strategies. You’ll examine the overlaps between art, culture and history and deepen your understanding of contextual, contemporary fashion.
You'll keep sustainability, circular design and ethical practices front of mind – working with our partner, Esce-Tex, to learn more about ethical supply chains, zero waste cutting and long-term environmental impact. You'll also investigate emerging technologies, from digital apps and AI to fabric growing, ensuring you're at the forefront of the industry and develop an eye for future trends.
Working in a collaborative studio setting, you'll learn from students with different abilities, techniques and backgrounds – building friendships, enhancing your skillset and gaining new perspectives. You'll also have the chance to work alongside students from other Fashion courses, improving your versatility and your range. This might include building strategies and campaigns for your collections, or helping to organise the final year show.
In Year 2 you'll join interview & placement sourcing workshops with our in-house Careers teams to help you find a summer internship. You'll also have the opportunity to study abroad for a term in various continents – learning how history and culture influences local trends, and gaining exposure to regional styles, materials and sustainable practices.
Your hard work culminates in a professional catwalk show in Year 3, where you'll present your collection and portfolio to an audience including press and industry professionals.
