Build on your knowledge of screen acting and production and prepare you for future opportunities. You'll develop and apply your skills specifically to acting for the lens, as well as your skills in acting for the stage, to the contrasting worlds of the studio and location. The focus of the module will be to create a collaborative short film project, working from commissioned scripts or self-generated material. You'll develop enhanced acting and script analysis skills, and you will build greater understanding of the collaboration necessary to create a larger scale project. Pattern & Construction II is designed to further develop and extend your knowledge of pattern cutting and construction skills. The central focus of the module is the fashion mechanics – all the elements required to take a fashion design drawing through to a fully realised garment. The module will extend your 2D pattern development as well as an introduction to 3D draping. There will be increased emphasis on related sustainable practices and application of finishing techniques in the production of final garments. You will design, toile and manufacture one completed outfit in final fabrics (min 2 garments). Particular attention needs to be applied to how the garment is structured and finished. This module has a very strong technical focus and will result in the production of tech packs for final garments, and a comprehensive technical folder documenting all the techniques and samples produced throughout the module.

In Industry Design in Practice you will extend and further develop your theoretical, design and technical skills through a creative design-based project in response to a set live industry brief or international competition. London's Global Storyteller: Shakespeare on Stage and Screen – SAI507

In this module you will explore Shakespeare’s works in two distinct forms: firstly, as scripts realised through theatrical performance and secondly as film narratives adapted for the cinema. We will consider how the plays make sense when enacted on the boards of the specific London theatre for which Shakespeare wrote and in which he imagined them being staged. Special consideration will be given to the original performance conditions that Shakespeare would have had in mind. Then we will proceed to explore how, centuries later, the meanings of the dramas were transformed when directors adapted them into films. This will involve analysing how playscripts become screenplays, comparing theatrical resources with filmic imagery and considering how practitioners in other cultures and times have reinvented Shakespeare’s creations.

We will cover themes such as religion, entertainment, housing, industrialisation, disease and war, and look at the varied experience of ordinary Londoners.
